I think I seen that video before. Pretty interesting but another major factor that didn't get mentioned was the money and professionalism of the sport. It probably wasn't until the 1970s that people could actually make a good living off sprinting. Once there's money on offer people can afford to train full time and commit themselves to it.

same here, I've seen it before don't remember where.
Warm up drills
   - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
   - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up
