the 400m WR this weekend (at US champs) by Dalilah Muhammed to defeat Sydney was insane.

looked like a "blowup style race", but then she still had energy at the end.. just non stop crank. was epic.

Karsten Warholm is in great form!

The 400m hurdles world champion just smashed the 300m hurdles world best of 34.48, which had stood since 2002.🤯

Norman also just became the second man ever to go sub 10 1000, sub 20 200 and under 44 to the 400. That's INSANE to be that elite across all 3 distances.

https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/stories/news/detail/karsten-warholm-misses-400m-hurdles-world-record-stockholm/

Karsten Warholm came desperately close to breaking Kevin Young's 28-year-old 400m hurdles world record at the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday (23 August).

Had the Norwegian star not hit the last hurdle, he probably would have broken Young's time set in the Barcelona 1992 Olympic final.

As it was, he had to settle for the second quickest time in history, 46.87s, just nine-hundredths adrift of the oldest men's track record in athletics.

Yeah it's the oldest male track record. There are some older field records, such as Yuriy Sedykh from the Soviet Union having a hammer throw world record set back in 1986, which is also the same year East German Jürgen Schult set the current world record for discuss. There are still quite a few female track records that are from the 1980's. For example, there is East Germany's Marita Kosch's 400m record of 47.60 set back in 1985. Czech Jarmila Kratochvílová  still has the 800m world record that was 1:53.28 set back in 1983. She also held the 400m word record in 1983 but Kosch broke it in 1985.

As we know that period (1980's) was tainted by doping and it shows just how advantageous performance enhancing drugs are given that nutrition, sports science and technology have come a long way in the past 30+ years.

For the current records being broken it might be a combination of athletes feeling refreshed and 2020 was supposed to be an Olympic year so everybody is trying to peak for the right time.

Warm up drills
   - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
   - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up
-------------------------------------------------------------
Measuring reminder:
5 toe to heel steps = 148cm
