pace chart:

Galloway's Book on Running (1984) has a chart called "Adjusting race pace for heat".
Estimated temperature at finish...Slower than goal pace
55-60 degrees.....1%
60-65 degrees.....3%
65-70 degrees.....5%
70-75 degrees.....7%
75-80 degrees.....12%
80-85 degrees.....20%
above 85.....forget it, run for fun
He attaches a note: "This chart is based upon my own experience in the heat and talking to other runners. It has no scientific verification, but I think you get the general idea."

http://www.runnersworld.com/tools/age-grade-calculator
for a 19:11 5k @ 34:
Age-Graded Score: 68.81%
Age-Graded Time: 18:52
Your age-graded score is the ratio of the approximate world-record time for your age and gender divided by your actual time. To score 100% as a 34-year-old man, you would need a time of 13:12.
EEK! lmao

If you could run that fast why bother running the 5k- you'd have the World Record for the 800m :P

lmao, good catch.

That calculator is still cool though. It gives a great insight into just how important speed reserve is and is a good general estimate. There's a forum called 'lets run', which is mainly a distance running forum and there are always pages long debates over just how fast distance runners can cover the short distances in.
