Sup, this is your boy adarq (King Terd of BoingTerd) and well, i finally got a glimpse of boingvert's secret exercises, and i must say, i am floored.. astonishingly effective at improving performance. If any of yall know of any more, through secret contacts, please link the vids.
Ok let's get started...
Secret society exercise #1. Advanced spiraling technique for arm swing
ok well this doesn't need explanation, it's already been leaked on here..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBHGGqNcxS8
Secret society exercise #2. Riding a 6 foot unicycle
In the words of Alex Maroko, this exercise is awesome. I was told that it has to be a 6 foot unicycle, in order to trick the CNS into thinking you are 45+ inches off the ground, which helps to rewire your cns and give you a new sense of kinesthesia, making your current vert feel like easy work. You must also not wear a helmet, because this causes the fight or flight response to kick in and helps to enlarge the adrenals so that you can produce more adrenaline when dunking. Another interesting aspect of this exercise, is that if you pull back on the pedal stroke, it really hits the hip flexors hard blu, real hard. This will help you land BTL's alot easier with your new vert, as now you can explosive hip flex at elite levels and get the ball between your legs much easier.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWkxVXanJ8s
Apparently you're supposed to ride for 5 minutes a day, non stop 5 minutes.. if you fail to achieve 5 minutes straight, rest for a minute, reset mentally, and get that 5 minutes.
Also, while pedaling, you want to be thinking about your event, so, think about jumping 50 inches, as it helps to associate the fight or flight response of unicycling on a 6 footer with no helmet to dunking a basketball.
T-dub, GC, Airdogg, Jonesy, and Werm can all do this WHILE facebooking, no excuses for you.
Secret society exercise #3: Increasing flexibility, the plexiglass bottle technique
Apparently this was passed down from Air Up There to TFB and then to BoingVert, and finally, onto yours truly.
Anyway, increasing flexibility to elite levels is so important. Bottom line, if you can't jam yourself into a 24" by 24" glass bottle, then you have major power leaks throughout the tendons and musculature. This helps give you elastic ligaments, tendons, bone, and muscle. This elasticity causes your body to become a bouncy spring, hence the name "boing" vert.. This exercise is extremely important, and should be performed once a day, for again, 5 minutes at a time. Basically, you contort yourself into the bottle, then you RELAX in the bottle for 5 minutes.... I cannot urge to you enough, YOU HAVE TO BE RELAXED WHILE IN THE BOTTLE.. If you are not relaxed, then your alpha gamma coactivation is too tight and will instead work against you, causing a shift from beta receptors in the series elastic component into more of a theta receptor in the parallel elastic component.
T-dub does this for 10 minutes, but, most people cannot work up to such feats.. So, set your sights on 5 minutes.

Secret Society Exercise #4: Advanced Core Work
Is this you? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_t_JwPfBhA&feature=fvst
if so, you have a weak core.
Here is jonesy, at 1min10seconds:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNSN-bXNQVc
See the difference? Jonesy's core is so strong, that there is no power leakage through his legs, causing beta alanine receptors to fire optimally. What you need to do is, start off with a mini cooper, working yourself up to a hummer, and finally to a bulldozer.... If you can withstand a bulldozer running over your stomach, well folks, according to Guy from BoingVert, you have finally made it, and now you can boing.
ok well, that's it for now, try to keep this info on the hush hush... and remember...
BE A BOINGSTAR, NOT A BOINGTARD
shouts to throwback.
until next time,

I like how J-DUB's posts always get +1. Which probably means he has a second account in here.
Anyway,
Nice videos and descriptions, but how about good ol' plain explosiveness? And reaction speed? Any exercises for that?
What about strength? Just calf raises or?
-
Can't believe you're leaking this stuff bro! This is serious level 7 shit! :o
-
What about strength? Just calf raises or?
I got the inside word on the boingvert maximal strength and hypertrophy phase bro. I seriously shouldn't share this shit. Its worth millions of dollars.

Go to failure or till u feel kinda queer. Whatever comes first 8) Get vertical man.
-
not to be too presumptuous, but might i submit this key exercise for shoulder power? everyone knows that shoulder power is essential to a high vert.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H5CUSgCF3s
also, this, "my second favorite exercise [and] possibly the best exercise for vertical," according to a noted expert in the field:

Yes, that is Avishek performing running deadlifts. This exercise is very effective, but i prefer people do it while wearing jumpsoles. Also, there is a squatflex variation that I am mega fond of: Runup in jump soles + squatflex in jump soles. Very effective at building rock hard toned calf muscles. If you don't have access to a squatflex or barbell, you can do this exercise with your sofa, gotta make do and get deezl. :)

Are you fond of the Diesel Weasel way to lift? If so, do you recommend any of his lifts?

Yes I prefer to lift completely round back as he does, because this allows one to recruit more muscle mass, ie, the very small postural muscles of the erector spinae. Plus, more stretch results in more elasticity during jumping, because, the lower back is the most important prime mover for jumping. Improving hyperextension of the back, results in massive gains in vert, because you are flinging yourself up using the lumbar blu.

nice but, that's not a secret society exercise...
thanks for the info raptor, keep us posted, but, remember, only secret society exercises are of value here.. secret exercises are what get people those last 7-10 instant inches.

Yeah I changed to my real name.
It is an effective exercise but since I was maxing out I compromised form except for the third repetition. Yeah I used to sometimes put my feet on 10lb plates to get that extra achilles tendon involved, so wearing jumpsoles would be good. I usually just do these standing now, excpet I haven't done much lifting this summer since I've been doing bounding + sofa and vert been skyrocketing so doesn't matter. But today I did them again and I like them because I can target the vastus lateralis very well but can't in lunges or anything else as much. You can also rotate the bar as you lift it up, it's tremendous.
Another great variation is once I lift the weight up, I drop it down as fast as possible witout letting it hit the floor (pretty much my feet temporarily leave the floor while hips drop) and this rips up everything quite well, then jump back up. Can do that with lunges, squats, anything as long as the load is moderate and you don't kill yourself.
In all honesty though, that the running vertical jump lift is just a nitpicky way to train slightly more specifically. You'll get similar results in squats except glute/ham activation better with this

i never said it was legit, i just said it had more potential now that shawn was on board.. i can't say something is legit or not unless i research it extensively, which i didnt with boingvert.. i havnt been following what happened with boingvert, so no clue how that turned out.. from what i've seen, it seems to be getting some lackluster feedback. please correct me if i'm wrong.

Shouldn't this thread be bumped? You know, just for fun?
I was reading through it and I was like "hey, this might actually work". I like this the most:

I therefore recommend starting to re-read this thread beginning with the first post.
EDIT: Fucking shit, I forgot how much of a genius adarqui sometimes (usually) is - even in my current death-like mental state I still laughed like crazy hahaha :-* :personal-record: :ibjumping:
You guys really really need to re-read this thread, especially the first post haha

man i wonder how avishek is doing these days. he was an athletic dude, could definitely have dunked with a good chunk of normal training.
-
True. He also had some good ideas, beyond his crazy ones.
Btw... do you think he was trolling in that answer above? I don't think he was, I think he was genuinely replying. Hence why you put your response like that after that post. lel
-
He definitely normalized his training a bit later on and was making really good progress. That's the thing about writing down your ideas and posting them, you hear about it when you're talking nonsense.
I also think he had some good ideas. If anything, being inventive adds to the passion of it all and could be useful in the right context. But boy did he have some whacky/ hilarious ones. Avishek drops are a classic.
-
Do we have a thread of avishek ideas anywhere
-
yeah he was definitely creative. and he definitely believed what he was saying, or at least that whatever he was doing was worth trying. the couple of workouts we did together were normal sprint workouts, for the most part, although he had a thing for "horizontal depth jumps" -- basically a submax broad jump that transitions to a SVJ.
-
Well that should prime the posterior chain, in principle.
