Wow this guy was pretty much spot on. I hate to say it but with this injury Rose could be heading down the career path of Brandon Roy and Penny Hardaway. He might end up being the best talent that had his career disrupted by injury. Hopefully he goes for the meniscus repair rather than removal and sits out the rest of the season.

I don't know if he can mentally come back from this. He already took more than a year off for his left knee, and ten games later, a serious right knee injury occurs.

Speaking of Brandon Roy:

Damn this guy can't get a break. At least he should still be raking in the dollars off his endorsements with Adidas. The human body can be really fragile but I hope he can get his body right and have some good luck and get back to playing some consistent basketball again because everybody knows he can play.
-
Because he plays like a kamikaze, that's why.
That's like me driving at 200 mph and then complaining I get in a lot of car accidents.

Only skim read but no mention of psychological implications?
Since I dislocated my ankle a few years back my game is completely different. I will not play without ankle braces (contributes to my knee pain i believe), i will never go off one foot under the basket, i never take it all the way to the hole usually jump stopping a few feet out for a floater/bank type thing, even on fast breaks i'll jump stop and go off two feet, rebounding i'm a pussy and try to jump as little as i can get away with for fear of landing funny etc etc.
Despite my ankle probably being stronger than ever after all the rehab I did.
Injuries suck dick. :raging:

Really sucks. I liked watching him play.
I think gukl's right though, its all psychological. Some people don't heal mentally even if physically they are fine. I'm sadly positive Rose is in that group given last years debacle. I understand him not feeling like coming back and playing 38+mins per and maybe upsetting the chemistry of the team up but he could have come off the bench for 10-15mins and gotten his legs and mind right.

imo, rose just got too powerful for his own body.. for some reason his ligaments can't keep up.. if he isn't going to dial it back, then he's going to get injured over and over.. we're just looking at a rare phenom who has a weak architecture.. strong muscles/tendons, weak ligaments/joints. ;/

I don't deny what you're saying, but I think it's more his kamikaze style and the fact that he subjects his body TOO OFTEN to those forces. Like, even when his muscles are tired and can't properly amortizate the changes of directions, plants etc, he will still try to play the same.
-
How about both? He did push all the time for sure, it also looks like his body couldn't handle it either. There are many others that play(ed) kamikaze 100% and got away with it ( Lebron, Wade, Westbrook, MJ of course ). But we can also take a look at a very similar example, Rondo. He used to play kamikaze too, there are numerous vids of him go up and dunk all the time, followed by bad falls very often. He stopped doing it, he decided to take a step back. Looks like a conscious effort.
Or maybe, it is just awful luck. Look at Kobe, he got that achilles tendon rupture at 35, he didn't do anything special, he has done that move 1 million times as he said, it just happened now. Maybe Rose just had an extremely bad timing and had his unlucky moment right when he got back on the court. He is still young, he gets yet another chance, so we shall see in the future...
