Isaiah Rivera, pro dunkers, lifting weights

(1/3) > >>

CoolColJ:
It's pretty unusual to see a pro dunker that actually help build his hops from the start with weights.
Most cruise on by genetics and might lift later on for extras, and usually not that heavy.
Although Jonathon Clark is pretty strong as well, and some of the Russian guys are big on weights

He actually mentions this forum in the first video  ;D
It's good to see he got a solid foundation getting into Starting Strength right from the start, instead of the usual bro routines people tend to do.
Although squatting in BBall shoes ain't the best...

he weighs 175lbs

had no idea. used to follow that dude's progress for a long time. i kind of detached from almost-everything at some point. but i've been detaching from the running community as well, so it's nothing specific.

i'm actually very excited to learn this forum helped him in some way, even if it was just finding the next step in his progression.

that's really cool. :wowthatwasnutswtf: :ibjumping:

he must have never seen my vids tho.. it's "a-dark dot o r g" lulz.

and yup, he is a beast. his "squad" in central/north florida, is one of the coolest things i've ever seen in the vert/dunk game. all of those kids came together to improve, now they are grown dudes all throwing down nasty dunks.

I think Celli is still hurt unfortunately. Most of his vids seem to be about him rehabing now, and he's taken on more of a vlog-ish focus - probably because he's hurt. When that dude is healthy, he's just throwing down every day.

Rivera (pro), Celli, CJ (pro), Rivera's cousin, and a few others formed a great squad up there in Central/North FL, i've made lots of posts about them in the "a whole bunch of dunks and shit" thread.. it's somewhere in here, lol. i need to post more in it, it's a decent chronicle of the dunk game.

i like the ~2 hour dunk session route, but it's also a bit risky. the thing i like most about it though is, just the stubbornness of it. just continuing to try, over and over, is so important. lifting, reactive work, diet, sleep, body comp etc can all provide a good boost/base, but have to get in tons of jumps, and somewhat frequently, IMHO.
