LOL, i found that article terrible, useless and provocative!
And that is coming from a guy who could be accused of being the most squat-headed in here.

It is also illiterate, for example the squat vs BSS part is outrageous for anyone with a basic understanding of physics and mathematics:

The load on each leg on a squat is ( squat load + 0,85*BW ) / 2
The load on each leg on a BSS is ( BSS load + 0,85*BW )

example : 500lbs squat vs 250lbs BSS for a 250lbs person

load on each leg on squat = 356,25 lbs
load on each leg on BSS = 462,5 lbs

Wow, 250 lbs less on the bar, 100lbs more load on each leg, you can't explain that!

By the same token , a chinup with 5lbs is a better strength option than a one arm chinup because you move more weight in the former.

Derp!   :derp:

it's the biggest trick in the run game.. go slow to go fast. it doesn't make sense until it smacks you in the face and you're like ....... wtf?

If you're using BSS as a serious strength building exercise you have to move/control heavy weight WHILE balancing and focusing on using your working leg. I think hes confusing performing as a half assed rehab exercise vs trying to make serious gains when he calls bss easier to coach/perform... and by that logic teaching somebody to regular squat with 20 lb dumbells isnt difficult either...

That is a good point... but I think where he's getting at is the lower ceiling for progression in the BSS.

On the other hand, you could say the same about the squat vs. the leg press.

When i was hardcore BSS-ing a few years back, i went from DBs to BB and then found that the perfect way to do them is the smith machine, keeps all the benefits and takes out the balance issues. I was able to single 130kg (286lbs) back then while my max full squat was around 110-120kg.
But i am NOT advocating the use of BSS as a main strength exercise. I am not rejecting that either. That is just a different discussion.
I was trying to make a point of how dumb the "bilateral is better because you move more weight" argument is.

Because you also put in the 0.85, and he didn't.

BW is the less significant mistake he does, the major one is that he forgets the single-vs-double. Even without BW the formula can still give higher load per leg for BSS with less load. It just has to be a smaller ratio.
Just put 0 for BW in the above formula and it becomes:
squat load per leg = squat load / 2
BSS load per leg = bss load
So the equation is :
BSS load per leg > Squat load per leg => bss load > squat load / 2 => bss load / squat load > 0.5

So, if you can BSS more that 0,5 of your squat, your legs are lifting more weight, even if you were weightless. Adding BW just skews it in favor of the BSS.
Just like in my original example, where squat load = 2*bss load, the BSS was 25-30% heavier on each leg. For weightless it would be tied.

This is no rocket science, this is 10-year old maths and physics.

At least he says really funny shit:

If I had a thousand dollars for every squat I see in my gym done above parallel, I'd be a broke motherfucker.
