Ummm. Faster, stronger, quicker, better jumpshot and he says he's jumping higher than before? I'm excited to see him play again!

Steroids. That's why he took 1 year off, so it wouldn't show in the blood tests this year. If he were to come back into the active roster last year the roids would've appeared.

Except that he can get tested at any time by the NBA while under contract, even on the injured reserve or whatever.

Quote from: the article
Coming out of Memphis, he registered a "no-step" vertical of 34.5 inches and a max vertical of 40 inches. Prior to his ACL injury, he was soaring about 37 inches off the ground. Post-injury, he says he's at 42 inches, per ESPN Chicago's Nick Friedell, much to the dismay of opposing defenses everywhere.

Draft: SVJ 34.5" and RVJ 40"
Then: SVJ ?? (?) and RVJ 37" (?)
Now: SVJ ? and RVJ 42?"

have no idea what they're getting at here. stupid journalists.

It was not specified what type (standing or RVJ) the 37" or 42" measurements were from. I highly doubt he was only RVJing 37" considering how explosive he is. It makes more sense that the 37" was a SVJ.

On the same token however I doubt he's at a 42" SVJ now. Most NBA players have very low SVJ, they just aren't built for it. Iirc, the average SVJ in the NBA is mid 20s and the 3 step was low 30s?

Lol, it's just noise from his representation to combat the negative press he got from sitting out the year. Like: "We know Derrick was cleared to play for ages but look how much better he is for not playing!" There's just no way he was as low as 37'' max vert two years ago:

That has to be around 115-116'' head height based on the backboard height (not the padding which is lower) of 114''/9'6'', Rose is 74.5'' tall in shoes (6'2.5'' according to DX) so that's ~41'' right there. And that's on a reverse with the ball!

Yea he's not that tall, just stupid explosive.

I'm going to say his measured numbers are right...he just jumps higher in games. Happens all the time to me. Just an observation/guess.
