Nothing impressive about the move. Just the defender being an idiot/slipping. That's all.

It's nice, prob the best of the year. I was streaming the game and it was obviously something special when it happened.

But everyone knows this is the greatest crossover of all-time. No comparison  :P

Raptor.....no, just no.

Yes, Iggy is a world class athlete but that move is hard to do in a half court set, there's only a handful of players that do that in a fast break situation. It's impressive.

Oh, and fuck yea the defender slipped and fell! Watch the vid closely at 24-25 seconds, he fell because Iggy's first crossover but him in a horrible position. He didn't 'just' slip and fall. The offensive player created the opportunity/situation then immediately changed directions exacerbating the problem for the hapless defender.

Still not greatest ever though. JWill on the Glove anyone?

yes, i guess you're right, AI crossing up michael is the GOAT. still, pretty nasty given the degree of difficulty. fast break, lot of traffic.

I don't understand you people... it really wasn't anything fast or whatever. It was just the defender overreacting to it.

So if I do a slow crossover and the defender is an idiot and fells down because he's "crazy defensively" (you know, people that go all out defensively even when they don't have to) - suddenly I pulled out a great move? No, I didn't, it just happened that the defender was an idiot and in this case - that he slipped.

Want to talk about great crossovers? Tim Hardaway, Jason Williams on Gary Payton etc... these are great. Where the move actually is fast and very well performed. I'm not impressed about the Iverson on Jordan move either. Jordan just sucked on that defensive possession, it wasn't the move that was great.

While I agree its not the greatest cross ever being 'fast' has zero to do with the 'lethality' of a move. Usually change of pace works better at killing a defenders COG.

Anyway, original point: that move is hard to do in a stationary set. He did it on the run. If you disagree with this I shall ask you to perform the move at a similar pace lol

not nearly as great a move, but this is brother-on-brother so i'm sticking it in here anyway.

chris, raptor's opinion on this is settled, you're not going to argue him out of it. we've had the debate about the AI/jordan move before. it's just a question of what you value. i have no idea how raptor makes his judgments but to me context matters A LOT. the iguodala move is amazing in large part because he was on a fast break, in traffic, going against an NBA defender. quincy miller ain't much in the NBA but he's still one of the best ~400 basketball players in the world.

AI, as a rookie, crossed up michael jordan, one of the greatest defensive players of his generation at the peak of his powers.

the one recently where the streetball guy (forget who) crossed up some schlub and then did a little dance over him is relatively not as cool. it'd be like crossing me up. hurray, you made an unskilled player look bad in a meaningless game in front of 300 people. it was an amazing move but it doesn't compare.

context.

I disagree. I found that the people considered the "best" defenders always overreact at "streetball" moves. So they're the easiest to trick.

They might get steals etc, but we choose to ignore those and get the moments when they get tricked.

Same with people that block a ton of shots but also get a lot of facials. We choose to ignore when they block people, and then we focus on these rare moments when they get a facial thrown on them. Think Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning, Shawn Bradley etc.

They put themselves in the position to get in a poster, but putting themselves in that position allows them to block a ton of shots and help their team.

So my point is - these "good defenders" are the easiest to get "very tricked" just because they go all out and when they fail, they look really bad. When they don't fail, they get the ball. So when they fail they look like idiots (this case), and when they don't they give their teams at least the possession, if not 2 points on the fast break.

we have been through this before with raptor. The amazement in the cross over is during a fast paced mid game play you use your ball handling and dribbling skills to confuses the defender into thinking a certain way and go the other and in some cases, the defender if not fooled once will be fooled again and result in falling over known as ankle breaker and passing that defender in that way is the amazing part.

Like the jordan video and the first video was great as well, iverson is the best at crossovers.

I don't find that impressive at all.

Eh different strokes for different folks. I do agree with Raptor that we sensationalize when good (or just aggressive) defenders get 'broke' or dunked on more than when they make a big play. I think that's what's wrong with a lot of todays younger players. They're afraid to be 'put on a poster' or whatever so they let stuff go. Prime example is with LBJ. When's the last time you saw a defender rotate over and go after a LeBron dunk? (THANK YOU PLUMLEE!!! Lol) It doesn't happen with todays guys. In the 90s it didnt matter. You got dunked on, it happens, go get it back at the other end. Game is weaker today.
