And the wizards sucked balls.  There game was built around mike when it shoulda been focused on rip hamilton.  44.5% fg is not that good.

44.5% fg ( with 20ppg , not just a few open shots ) is not that good for a 40 year old ? You are joking right?
I just checked the current NBA top scorers list , from the first 10 only Studemire and Nowitzki are above 50%
Durant = 46,3 , Kobe = 44,6 , Carmelo = 43,6 , Rose = 45,5

Anyway , dont want to convince you about anything , just saying...

Rip wasn't on the Wizards in 02-03. In the one year he and Jordan played together, 01-02, Rip shot 41% from the field and 28% from three and had almost a 1:1 assist/TO ratio. So yeah, definitely the kind of player you want to be building a team around.

Woah woah woahhhh damnit. Chill out.

I think we can all agree on one thing...Jordan would've actually lost to Bird in all those McDonalds commercials if they were real. I mean, c'mon son. Jordan wasn't half the shooter Bird was....but Jordan was 10x the athlete Bird was. That's all.

ok build your team around a 40 yr old MJ who has at the most 3 more years left...  you're obviously a tool lbss... get a life... lol

MJ was top-heavy at that point, so obviously was in a better position to improve than bottom-heavy Rip Hamilton. Obviously you are a fucking retard.

DOES THAT CONSTITUTE AS "GREAT"? Was that MJ ESQUE? Did the wizards accomplish GREATNESS?  Answer is NO.  LBSS stop posting in my threads, stop licking ass, stop blowing dick, get some help.

Not interested to play tug-of-war.
You said he was great only with the bulls , i posted his stats of the last season proving ( for me ) he was still great , now you say no he wasn't!

WAS NOT!
WAS TOO!
NOT!

Jordan recently said, and I'm paraphrasing:

"I think Kobe is definitely amongst top 10 all time GUARDS."

AND

"If I were still in the NBA today, I'd score 100"

You were great while you played for the Bulls Mike, but making those comments just shows you're a desperate mf now that you can't ball.  I feel sorry for the dudes on bobcats that MJ is barkin at everyday.  Brown says i'm outta here too.

What's wrong with that statement btw? He is top 10 guards.
Players are real hard to compare when they play different positions, but yea I can think of a couple players ahead of kobe in the top 10. They might not have a comparable skill set and mentality, but they were better at what they did best and impacted the ballgame to a greater degree ( Jordan, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, Shaq, Wilt+Russel, Kareem etc).

He'd probably score 100 with these pussy @ss handchecking rules and open lanes, I've never seen this much open layups in NBA games as the last two years (Finals were nice tho)
Go take a hard look at the jordan-rules era and tell me you don't think Jordan would absolutely DOMINATE everyone this era.

I was never very interested in basketball. But I do know MJ makes fantastic commercials for Hanes.  :P You can't possibly argue over Hanes's comfort.  :D

YOU TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT STATEMENT.  TO SAY THAT SOMEONE WHO HAS WON 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS, MVPS, SCORING CHAMPS, ALL STAR MVPS, FINALS MVPS IS JUST "TOP 10 GUARDS"?

I can tell you what's wrong with this statement. He only won 1 MVP. No S needed. It's not plural. Only 1. He's had multiple Finals MVPs, but since you gave that it's own category I can only assume you meant that he had also won multiple regular season MVPs, which he hasn't.

Otherwise, the rest of the statement is true.

And yes, he is just a "Top 10 Guard". That doesn't say where he is at on that list though, could be #2, #3, etc. I don't think he's a Top 10 All-Time player yet...but definitely Top 20, and working his way irrefutably into the Top 15. Just not sure he's Top 10 yet.

He's old, but he's still the most skilled player in the NBA today so he has a few more years to work on Top 10.

kobe has improved his status on my top 10 list of guards with his recent 2 championships with lakers, before that, he wasnt' even in my top 10 even though he had 3 with shaq.. but he's definitely improved his ranking among top guards all time, he could literally be #2 at this point.. if he wins one more he definitely is.

if you're using mvp's to put people in top 10 ranks, then you'd have to put nash there, but he doesn't have a ring.. i'm looking at rings.. i mean AI was insane back in his sixers days, he had basically a horribly weak supporting cast and made it to the finals.. he truly took over games and was nearly unstoppable.. but he didn't win one either.. top 10 is reserved for players who win championships..

i'll use an nfl example.. tom brady vs payton manning.. tom brady isn't considered anywhere near payton's level in quarterbacking, BUT, he's more of a WINNER... he's clutch, he gets it done, he pulls out wins out of nowhere.. he might have a 200 yard passing game with the game winning drive in the 4th, etc.. to me he's among the top 5 QB's all time, already.. if he wins one more i'm literally putting him GOAT status, he is that legit at just WINNING.

MJ was a winner, when you needed him, he delivered, more often than not... FAR more often than not.. beyond his great stats, he just was able to pull out clutch performances and win games, thus winning 5 championships, with another 3-4 he could have won had he not retired.. he simply is the best of all time and is the authority on all things basketball :)

could be 2 or 3, but extremely unlikely, b/c then it be called "top 5 guards"  and when i typed mvps, all star mvp/finals came to mind but then i brought those up separately anyway.  that doesn't really matter, yet you chose to write an entire paragraph to bring it up then you mentioned the top 10 thing which i just refuted.... i'm really not belittling your hero mike, i hate to see people have incorrect views on things and then vehemently defend their position.  im not disputing mike's accomplishments...

Wow dude, you didn't read anything I said did you? Other than the MVP(s) point, I just agreed with you on all your points and then stated some random facts about Kobe. I never said a thing about MJ in that post. MJ is nowhere close to my "hero" anyways. Can't really agree to having a self-absorbed, egotistical a-hole as a hero anyways. As great of a basketball player he was, MJ was no "role-model" by any means. That was further reiterated by his HOF speech.

David Robinson, now there's a basketball player that is hero-worthy. :)

p.s. You can be #2, or #3 on a 'Top 10' list. It is just what you choose to call it. He could be #1 on the Top 100 list, and it still be called a Top 100 list. Now, I'm sure MJ meant it as a slight to Kobe by saying Top 10 Guards All-Time, there's no doubt in my mind that he did. But, that doesn't make his statement invalid. Where did you refute it by the way? It's a true statement that Kobe is Top 10 Guards All Time...to refute means to prove it wrong...

Edit: Oh, and sorry for making you read another paragraph.

Edit: Oh, and sorry for making you read another paragraph.

We're in agreement here.  My whole point was that here we have the greatest basketball player of all time, who has received the due respect that he deserves, still throwing out verbal subliminal jabs at another great player (Kobe) AND still making claims to flaunt himself (that he could score 100 today).  Classy people do not do this, they move on when their time is up and go on to greater things.

Agreed. Maybe if he'd focus on current events he might be able to run the NBA team he just bought somewhere else other than into the ground...
