Nice pic, the bar can't be that high, the net is 3m high, I saw his jump in brussels, I like how he is able to clear the bar by a wide margin, the only thing he lacks his trying to avoid clipping the bar with his heels. exciting when he was trying to attempt the WR, bondarenko doesn't clear it as much so would find it more difficult to clear the bar, but bashim has a chance.
Warm up drills
   - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
   - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up
-------------------------------------------------------------
Measuring reminder:
5 toe to heel steps = 148cm

Well... if the bar is at 2.40m, then there's another 65cm to 3.05m. 65 cm is pretty much ~3 palms. Considering perspective, it doesn't look too far fetched for that picture to be pretty accurate.

(and by that I mean - if the basket is quite a bit back from the bar, not on the same plane with the bar)

Agree with raptor.
The basket perspective is screwed. It looks like the base and the rim are both at the bar plane, which is impossible.
But if you use only the rim for reference, supposing the front of the rim is exactly at the bar plane, then it is pretty accurately set.
Target training paces (min/km), calculated from 5K PR 22:49 :
Easy run : 5:48
Tempo run : 4:50
VO2-max run :4:21
Speed form run : 4:02

---

it's the biggest trick in the run game.. go slow to go fast. it doesn't make sense until it smacks you in the face and you're like ....... wtf?

That same dunk that Lipek did Jordan Kilganon did a few days ago that LBSS couldn't access, but better, I think.

Oh and to weigh in on the high jump thing....

My track coach in high school always said that if you have good form you can clear anything you can get your shoulder to. Having seen that be consistently true at meets, and knowing the bar was allllmost at 8 feet... I dont think he'll suddenly do dunks no one else can.

To clarify, its impressive! Highly. But, any of these ridiculous 1 foot dunkers could conceivably achieve this with enough training.

Yes, the center of gravity is pretty much always lower than the bar - it's just how well you can arch your back and avoid hitting the bar with your upperback/shoulders and/or your legs that matters.

Well, he could do a dunk where he teabags the rim first. That would be cool.

By the way - I played the monkey video frame by frame and saw:

1) The monkey looks really quad dominant;
2) It shows incredible plantar flexion - almost 180 degrees of extension, almost a straight line, toes pointing straight down. Once again showing how important the ankle is in the end.
