FAVORITE DUNKER, YAO MING. :goodjobbro:

jajajajajajajajajajaja
-

-
Imagine Yao Ming with Guy Dupuy's 59 inch vert. Wait... wh... what... 59... 59 inches?...
i imagine they just re-print what the athletes tell them. if Guy had a 59" rvj, at his height, he'd be bumping his sternum on the rim. :f
-
So they don't bother checking or thinking about it at all?
At least the guy was modest, claiming just a 59". 60" is reserved for Kadour Ziani.
-
So I'm having this dispute with Myree about his reported 53 inch vertical. There's a video with him here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zL7wohPJYU
What do you think? Legit 53 or not? His head would have to be at 10'6" for him to have a 53 inch vert.
-
53 in that video? or 53 max, at some point, in his entire life?
i dno.. I know him and t-dub have the highest verts i've ever seen. I can believe Myree has hit LEGIT > 50" in his life.. video estimated > 50" -> definitely.
I think that video does more to support his case than yours. That's one of my favorite videos, it's absolutely mind blowing. This is perhaps a better image, given the camera angle. I'm not even sure I caught it at his complete apex. Also remember these are dunks and not max RVJ's. Obviously there won't be a huge difference but I suspect he could have made us lose our shit if he max head height jumped that day, on that rim.
If his max RVJ isn't 53", then what is it? 50-52"? The thing about Myree is, I don't suspect he actually pulled that number out of his ass like Guy or Ziani do with their 59/60's. Myree seems to have a decent understanding of s&c, from what i've seen. Imagine if Guy had hops like Myree? He'd be claiming an 80" RVJ. lmao.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zarCk7dSf20
oh man..
-
Definitely, the question is - was that rim 10 feet? Because if so, even with the angles and so on, definitely head over rim there. 10'6"? I don't know.
The point I was trying to make is that he's definitely at ~48" or so. But 53? Hard to say, it's exponentially harder to cover these 5 inches from 48 to 53 than it is from 20 to 25...

sure, but look at that video I posted. He hits his head on the way down, and still hits the top of his forehead.
and ya I definitely am not minimizing those ~3" from 50-53.. It's astronomical - olympic level record gap. I just think that if there's anyone out there who can make the case, it's myree (and t-dub). Most of these dunkers are several inches taller than they report and don't get up anywhere near how high he gets up. If you took all of his vids and searched for legit 50", you'd find some (like the vids you and I posted).. and for 53"? the one I posted seems pretty close.
all of this depends on legit 10' rims though.. he's gotten up crazy on so many rims that i'd believe he's hit at least legit 50" several times in his life.
pc!
-
Yup, the dunking video has some distortion, i would guess it is around eye-level to rim, so 4'' above rim
The other one is insane though, he is about nose-to-rim level with a huge body angle too. I'd give him 6'' above rim easy for that one, maybe a couple inches more.
But i don't know his height or the rim height. So no numbers.
-
Exactly. I once did some filming with Nightfly in the past, with him jumping head level to the rim, from a low angle. Then I went up on a fence and filmed from exactly the level of the rim. He was 4-6 inches below the rim with his head. Such a big, big difference.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zarCk7dSf20
I feel that in this vid he might have gotten a very very slight push from the guy with the ball, based on the way his elbows bend a bit when Myree grabs it...very slight though.

JUST A REMINDER...... Dunk King tonight after Game 1 between GSW/OKC.. (i think).
:wowthatwasnutswtf:
-
i think this was my favorite dunk of the night.. this is really sick. there's alot going on with this dunk.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tA5DWQDgsK4
too bad purdie missed his second.. his second was pretty sick too.
this was also nasty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j8oCZrr-KM
the net in this competition is such shit.. need a broken in net, wtf?
-
Is there the whole episode anywhere? I could only find the highlights here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe6C1aPajJA
-
not sure. I saw it on TNT last night. tbh, the full episodes probably aren't worth watching.. they are over-produced, way too much commentary etc.
young hollywood looks so much bigger now.
-
Guy might be (OK, IS) a complete retard, but he's killing them. Kilganon - the same. I wonder what Jordan Kilganon's max vert is nowadays.
Chase Skinkis was there too, lel.
-
ep2 was way better than ep1.
doug anderson had two INSANE dunks.. beautiful. my favorite dunks of ep2.
here's the second one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuAa-P47jVM
can't find the first one.
G-Smith had two nasty dunks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMO-l8CwLQM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H_g7zG-5IE
maberry's first dunk was crazy, nasty hight and a quick throw down.. looked sick
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo7H4Lva2j4
the best dunk of the night might have been myree.. that's pretty crazy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVm65VyIseE
-
whoa, i don't remember doug anderson winning the ncaa dunk contest in 2013:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er4TaiEGdXU
last dunk is disgusting.
-
Check out 1:45
Marberry is 5'5 (if he really is) - that's 1.65 meters tall. Rim is at 3.05 - he needs to jump 1.40 m to be head to rim. That's 55.11 inches.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9pcvtbsIhc
-
ya that was nasty.. he can really fly. he's def 5'5 or at most 5'6.
-
the real question is, when is kilganon gonna break out the double reverse arm hang. because i'm pretty sure that's still my favorite dunk.
-
young hollywood's iforgetwhatyoucall it btl + two ball dunk really is ridiculous.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FarbKEE2OdI
highlights:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ja1RvTERCvg
love myree's scoop:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEmSn9fgPcM
g-smith's btl off glass was nice.
kilganon's first dunk was one of my favorites.. you don't see anyone 180'ing OVER someone.
-
Tonights episode isnt half bad...watching it while squatting lol! Kilganon was dope as usual and Kenny Dobbs as well so far. Kinda disappointed in Haneef but then again Toddday says hes battling injury so alright. What kills me is Guy claiming a damn 59" vert and these guys believe it. Smh
-
Armageddon btw andrew :) His whatchamacallit dunk
-
Andrew Pickwell was there? Damn. Wonder if hes still jumping locally. :/
-
Armageddon btw andrew :) His whatchamacallit dunk
ahh ya.. it's kind of "gimmick-ish" and i'm not a fan of gimmick-dunks.. but that dunk is an exception. i love it.
disappointed in how the last episode went.. props to maberry but he did the "same dunk" several times.. just jumped over people of different heights etc. impressive but not anywhere near the creativity of dobbs/jordan/guy.
jordan kilganon to me is the best.. he's got so much up his sleeve.. so much creativity. dude does dunks no one is doing.
-
^Agreed. Porter has dumb bounce but cmon man....same dunk not to mention Shaq ducked a bit.
I gotta give it to Jordan. Dobbs fire dunk is...eh. Guy missed. Jordan not only had a higher degree of difficulty but he (and dobbs) hit theirs on the first try...
-

maybe if Dobbs BTL'd or something difficult over the guy on fire.. he just did a simple dunk.. gimmick = bleh.
ya.. i dno why i get excited about contests like this.. i'm always let down. The judging ALWAYS sucks.
i got really annoyed when southerland defeated g-smith.. g-smith did BTL off glass and a nasty slingshot.. southerland just did simple dunks while jumping over motorcycles. bleh.
stopped being AS interested when I realized how lame the judging was. I like how the NBA Sprite slam showdown stuff was judged.. Myree + Darryl Dawkins + Los -> those guys could judge... but that's rare, I mean they actually understand dunk competitions.
whatever.. some great dunks in the series for sure.

S2 tonight
:wowthatwasnutswtf: :wowthatwasnutswtf: :wowthatwasnutswtf:
-
lipek's first dunk = nasty
-
maybery's first dunk was pretty nuts.. huge distance over 5 people + mill.
-
the fake ass crowd reactions & impatient camera work always bug me about this show.
-
staples and lipek, fail city.
insane.
-
sewell knows how to murder a rim.. solid power dunker, strong finishes.
-
did isaac really need to jump over a boat? lmao...... nasty dunk though.
-
racist? :uhhhfacepalm:
lipek's first dunk was definitely one of the best of the night.. but i mean, they also gave j.kill's 100's for the elbow hang mill over people, which is insane but to most people i don't think they'd give that a better score than lipek's.. hard to see the difficulty in it, imho.
a few really impressive dunks on the first night.. i think i'd probably enjoy finding the dunks themselves on youtube tho, than watch the dunk king.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5Z4HWDXqEg
that is a serious dunk.. :o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPbYKnHaC7g
serious dunk.. :o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYMPD8A6MxY
not his best scorpion 'finish', but damn look at the distance he gets.. incredible "dunk" (without the proper slam finish, probably debatable).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zDcNR2M7kU
i just dont see how that looks 'amazing' to normal people.. to dunkers that is insanely difficult.. milling an elbow hang over people, wtf?
look at that height he gets on his vert.

ep2 tonight, after the memorial service finishes for the Boston Celtics.
-
kwame alexander dud of the year, first dunk.. getting ~95's.
great job from the clueless judges.
-
purdie bout to dunk.. expecting big things from him.. he's got some serious dunks.
-
i might turn off the tv, these fake ass crowd reactions are driving me insane.
-
smoove's dunk was nice
-
kwame alexander dud of the year, first dunk.. getting ~95's.
great job from the clueless judges.
the dreadlock guy? yeah that was a joke, 79 sounds about right for regular 2 handed dunk
ya exactly.. 79 or so .. and he gets 95's. lol.
-
southerland's was solid.. somewhat normal dunk (but beautiful one) with two pieces of added difficulty added.. nice.
-
how did they not show darlington's first dunk, in it's entirety? looked like one of the best of the night.
-
j clark nasty af.
-
*59 inch vertical*
:ffffffuuuuuu: :'( :uhcomeon:
-
how did they not show darlington's first dunk, in it's entirety? looked like one of the best of the night.
A 93 for JustFly? and 95 for kwame alexanders..... shows a joke, more comedy than dunking
exactly.. disappointing.
-
dupuy solid dunk
-
cj champion NASTY with that variation coming in from the front.. he always finishes so hard too.
-
it's funny about purdie s1.. those dunk misses of his, were probably 80's compared to the 72 he got.. those were very impressive misses. hah.
-
OMFG.
-
if purdie goes out like he did last year.................... dude has such good dunks, :o
-
show is not worth watching, sir isaac loses to fat ass regular dunks..... justfly didnt get in, kwame alexanders 2 handed regular dunk gets in..... fk off
read only a little, totally forgot it was on tonight. watching it now. preparing myself to be disappointed.
-
sewell lob ~360'd over a motorcycle.. very underrated dunk. people rarely spin over props.
isaac's lob btl over someone was picture perfect, nasty.
smoove with the dunk of the night so far.. that lob, catching it between the legs, is some crazy shit. love that dunk.
southerland with a sick under both legs.
smoove missing his second dunk, RIP.
nasty second dunk by southerland.
-
j-kills jesus.
-
KILGANON.
-
that's how you jump over a damn car.
-
omfg maybury = toast.
fwiw, kwame's second windmill was pretty disgusting.. but just a mill.
-
purdie's second dunk is nasty. like that.
-
dupuy RIP. damn.
-
show is not worth watching, sir isaac loses to fat ass regular dunks..... justfly didnt get in, kwame alexanders 2 handed regular dunk gets in..... fk off
porter missed his second dunk tho, of course kwame gets in.
i actually didn't mind sewell beating isaac.
shaq giving the ball to dupuy ... what a dbag.
kilganon is a monster.
-
kilganon is the GOAT.
-
They should rename "The Dunk King" to "Waiting for Kilganon"
-
nice moment for Werm. damn.
i'm friends with him on FB. you could see he took his dad's death extremely hard.
-
another nice moment with guy and his proposal .. that girl is always smiling, seems happy.
-
but back to dunking..
KILGANON
-
I feel like Guy may have gotten some points for the proposal instead of the dunk....
-
Dude. I'll be pissed if Kilganon doesnt win
-
i didn't like southerland's high jump bar much, but the dunk was beautiful.
-
Dude. I'll be pissed if Kilganon doesnt win
same, but, let's see if he makes his dunk tho..
i imagine he will.
if he does, it's game over.
-
kilganon really brings it.. level of difficulty is way beyond his competition, on pretty much every dunk.
it's like in gymnastics where the dude's routine is insanely difficult .. but still nails EVERYTHING, first attempt.
-
Here we go...
-
fuck he's trying the crazy shit.
-
FAWK
-
wow meltdown.. WTF
-

wow meltdown.. WTF
-
when you have that much adrenaline, need to choose your words wisely.
some of that came off disrespectful.
FUCK.
-
Like... fuck. Legit he killed the whole comp EVERY DAMN ROUND. Hes literally the only guy who pushes the limit every single time.
-
Meh. He has a point. Lets be real... hes not wrong. He does it to push the dunk game further and, no disrespect, but even Dr J, Nate and Dominique arent on his level DUNKING wise. Much less shaq or even Barry (yes i know hes an ex dunk champion).
That said... them doubting his mental fortitude would piss me the hell off. He had the competition IN THE BAG and STILL went after another huge dunk. His mental toughness isnt in question. If he was mentally weak he wouldn't have even attempted that. Sorry, that was BS.
-
Like... fuck. Legit he killed the whole comp EVERY DAMN ROUND. Hes literally the only guy who pushes the limit every single time.
ya, he did & ya he is.
he never plays it safe.
i still think he's #1 .. but man i really couldn't believe how that ended .. not only missing that incredible dunk, but what he said at the end.. i mean it's all correct, but he said a little too much & calling them out as non-pro judges (which is true), was just a bit much. I forget what Kenny said but, it was something like - everyone up here has sealed the deal.
my jaw dropped tbh.. wasn't expecting that.
-

sure but, to everyone on the panel, it's about winning.. those guys are about winning first and foremost, so they don't understand the concept of an artist wanting to push the dunk game - not in that moment.. there's 100k on the line and these guys don't make serious guap afaik.. so it's understandable from their perspective, that kilganon made a bad decision by trying something SO risky.
That said... them doubting his mental fortitude would piss me the hell off. He had the competition IN THE BAG and STILL went after another huge dunk. His mental toughness isnt in question. If he was mentally weak he wouldn't have even attempted that. Sorry, that was BS.
definitely.
i think he knew he lost at that point & once he responded to Barkley, the first word he said, just took him right into rant-mode. I mean, if he had simply stated it better, everything would have been fine.
"I don't play it safe. I push the limits."
done. etc.
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

insane dunk
