"It was about 40 degrees and 95 per cent humidity and West Coast were going through the motions of a training session - all except for one player," Quinn recalled. "They were doing runs at 50 per cent and there was this one guy doing it at 100. They did the session for about 30 or 40 minutes and the whole time this one guy was doing everything at 100 miles an hour.
"I have always watched him since that time. That is his work ethic all the time. I say to our players, he is the benchmark."

One of my favourite players when he wasn't getting banned from the league for smoking too much weed. Probably one of the top 10 or 15 most talented players ever to play the game.

Yeah he was an awesome football player. I read his biography and watched his 'such is life' documentary. If you havn't read his book it's pretty good. Same as Wayne Carey's biography. I like reading biography's of successful athlete's because it gives you an insight into their physcology.

Ben Cousins has really spiralled down the wrong path since retirement. The only time you ever hear about him now is when he's getting arrested, which seems to be a yearly occurrence. The crystal pistol is frying his brain.

I would be surprised if he's still alive in 5 years time. Just cannot kick the habit. So sad.

Yeah he loves the shit. I remember watching his documentary that he made (it's available to watch on youtube) and his eyes lit up whenever he thought about ice. He looks a lot older now compared to just 5 years ago. He hasn't worked at all since he stopped playing AFL. I know he made literally millions in his day but his drug use has burnt a lot of bridges with regard to his post-football career and endorsements etc.

Yeah I watched it too when it was on tv. It was pretty frightening that look. Definitely the culture over there at the Eagles that did him in.
Also amazing that he could play the way he did with that kind of addiction.
