Title: Kovalev vs Pascal
Post by: adarqui on March 15, 2015, 11:33:39 am
great fight.

What heart from pascal, how did he turn that around. He was basically dead early on then somehow completely turned the fight around.

Kovalev's power is legit.

what happened with the stoppage, it looked a but premature, a lot of slipping. Pascal has power and can slick and slide but got hit  lot of the times.

Kovlev was good, when he got hit the crowd cheered on as if it was ko punch but didn't do much to him.

pascal had a good co trainer roy jones jr who have him some good tips.

kovalev was winning early until pascal turned it around and then pascal started getting hit somemore but  think it would have become more interesting if it continued.

i think pascal was done.. good stoppage imo. If you look at kovalev as the ref was asking him if he was alright, pascal was so loopy, falling all over the place.. Then he got hit with those final shots, you could see him get that 'hazy look'.. That's a dangerous look IMO, imminent brain damage if you keep absorbing shots looking like that.

If you watch the slow mo you might see what i'm talking about.. he's getting clobbered and he's just staring off into space. Once that happens, refs usually stop it because of the "defenseless fighter" rule.

pascal put up a great effort.. fight of the year so far.. simply due to the pascal come back after almost being ko'd to death in the early rounds. Kovalev is a machine though. He knows he hits like a tank and he takes his time.

pC!

From up to the part when kovalev was using pascal as a battering ram and he nearly got ko'd but got saved by the rope, kovalev then slipped, from this moment he looked a bit dizzy then pascal went to the other corner for some reason. after they met kovalev punched him twice and then ref stopped. it is hard to see pascal's face at the corner, but i see what you mean he did look dizzy from the devastating ko blow he received and fell on the ropes.

so i guess it was fair, but either he should have stopped the fight after a few punches instead of just 2 and stop it, that's why it looked premature.

the ref could have stopped it before kovalev slipped. but i can see the ref keeping an eye on pascal and maybe should have stopped it before he let them engage.

i was watching the fight game and it talked about the stoppage and it mentione roman simakov, who died of brain injuries from fighting sergei kovalev, man i see why the refs have to be very attentive as pascal could have been next.

that fight with roman simakov was crazy, he didn't look hurt
who knew, you are right when it comes to shots taken to the head

good stoppage.
