LAS VEGAS (AP)—Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was sentenced Wednesday to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to reduced battery domestic violence and harassment charges before a Las Vegas judge.
Judge Melissa Saragosa also ordered the 34-year-old Mayweather to complete 100 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine.
The plea deal avoids trial on felony allegations that he hit his ex-girlfriend and threatened two of their children during an argument at her home in September 2010.
Prosecutor Lisa Luzaich told the judge Mayweather has been in trouble before and hasn’t been punished.
Attorney Karen Winckler had argued that the public would benefit more if Mayweather performs 100 hours of community service with children.
She says she’s considering an appeal.
Mayweather was told to report to jail Jan. 6.

shit i hope it dose not affect his offer to manny for may 24th i think..
-
He'll get out early
-
That's why you don't play with pitbulls.
-
I guess its good, as it can postpone the match a bit later as arum that $!%£ wanted.
I would like to see pacquiao vs mayweather and pacquiao vs marquez 4 as he was not fairly judged i know we can't get it back but i hope that pacquia gets to fight marquez early 2012 like march and then fight mayweather next like may or june
or mayweather then marquez. Morales wants a fight against pacquiao i don't think he needs to as long as he was able to defeat him then thats all there is to it. I didn't bob arum was such a .... :pissed: as he said to marquez "Business is business".

I wonder how his prison stint will go. He's a real cocky and small guy so I could see alot of guys 200lb+ wanting to take a shot at him. Not that I don't think he could hold his own against an untrained fighter that has him by 50-80lbs. I outweigh him by that much and I'm sure he'd beat me pretty easily.

It's jail, not prison. It's really just sitting in your cell for the entire time. They usually get out early.
-
And your cell is not in a prison or what?

Jail is for short term sentences (under a year usually). There is no prison yard or any activities or any of that. It's basically just sitting around.
Romania doesn't have a difference between jail and prison?
-
I don't think so. They're all the same.
-
This could mean 2 thing the unlikeliness of the match of happening and another year of will it or won't it happen in regards to the manny pacquiao vs mayweather or it could happen as stated by both side and including bob arum that the fight will most likely happen in november 2012 :o what that long, well i guess its better than not happening or this could be another one of those will it or won't it episodes again.
i hope it happens, 2012 going to be big year for boxing i hope.
Morales was a good who was able to beat pacquiao :o he was fast alot of slurry of punches but now he has grown old who knows how much of the old self he has.
peace

Pacquiao vs Mayweather: Manny Says He Wants It, Puts the Fight on Arum's Shoulders
Manny Pacquiao has made a statement that, well, most fans will love regarding a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr in an interview at PhilBoxing.com.
Here's that part of what he said about fighting Floyd on May 5:
"I‘ve said this over and over before and I’m saying this again, I want Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be my next opponent and I haven’t changed my choice despite recent developments. ... I am meeting with my promoter, Bob Arum on Tuesday and I will insist that the fight with Mayweather be given the preference (over) the four others in the list [Miguel Cotto, Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Lamont Peterson] I will fight next."
That part is nice. Yay, Manny! Take control of your career and put your foot down!
But there's more, and it's pretty damn important.
Star-divide
"It’s not really fair for some quarters to blame me if, in the long run, the fight wouldn’t push through. As I have also been saying many times before, I fight for the fans. I want the fans to be happy always."
"Whoever the fans want me to fight, I will face him (in) the ring. I don’t choose (who to) fight. It is my promoter who does because it’s his job. My job is to fight, everybody must realize that."
So basically what you have here is Manny Pacquiao hanging Arum out to dry and putting everything firmly on Bob Arum for now. Maybe some will think that this is him shifting blame to the Mayweather camp, but it's not. He's very clearly saying three things:
"I am going to demand this fight, because you, the fans, want this fight."
"If it doesn't happen, don't blame me. I can only demand. I don't make the fight. Bob Arum makes the fight."
"I don't really have that complete control that Bob Arum says I have."
Manny makes very clear: The drug testing is fine, no issue, he'll do it. He'll take a smaller portion of the split if that has to happen. He wants the fight.
It's on Bob Arum and Team Mayweather now. The Mayweather camp has given the indication that they're ready. Manny says it's time to do it.
Are you there, Bob? It's us, boxing fans.
