So, sometimes you get people who provide a few pictures to "show off" or "prove their performance", but no video.. In the high tech age, is this acceptable? Does this count towards proving ones self? Regardless of whether or not the picture looks legit or not, is this a valid measure of performance, simply a photo?

I voted yes, but you would need a set of predefined rules for camera positioning, and proof of the rim height and reach.

I guess that means you need more then one picture

people can just hang from a rim, pull themselves up, and let go.

No. That's why when I didn't have my camera with me on my backflip I didn't just say, "yo, I landed a back tuck at the gym!" I took on my phone. Crappy quality but still... no excuse for not having some film.

I voted yes.
I think it's similar to the e-stats poll.
It is not the pic , or the e-stat , it is the coach that claims it.

We all believe this is true:

And we all believe this is fake:

Why? Because it is obvious who would lie and who wouldn't. Its all around the coach , his aura , the way they talk , the info they give out for free , the marketing tactics they use ,  you can clearly tell if someone would lie about his performance or not.

Interesting shadows in the SquatDR picture, head shadow is much lower than backboard shadow than what I'd expect from that picture.

I just posted a video of me jumping in the pictures/videos thread. It is about 2 years too late for my best efforts but it shows at some point I had some hops, and by most average athletes standards, especially the nearly 36 year old white guy kind, I am still not doing too bad.

I personally think those photos are "real" at this point, except, I imagine he just hung from the rim and let go (posed).. Like lance said, "you can't hang onto the top of a vertec and let go", thus no pictures on a vertec but all pictures on rims...

I think it is literally that simple..

Lance cracked the case.

Yeah I think that's what happened...

It's interesting that he had videos of him jumping though, you know, for Flying 101 etc. Oh, and CoolColJ.

ok so it's funny, not trying to be a dickhead, but that's a perfect example above.. guy posts a vert pic in a thread, on a very questionable rim, all of those bodybuilding.com noobs think it's legit right off the bat due to his "rep power", but he won't post a vid of it..

good example of someone using still frames to coerce others, if i pulled out still frames from his actual dunks, they'd be ok, but nothing like that, and that doesn't even look high off the ground for how high his arm is above rim.. people these days..

The vert detective will show you why this is shady, given the pic above, which has no video, then when you look at his jumps where he does provide video, it's not even close:

wait what?

The outside rim is probably 9'10 or so.
