What are e-stats you ask? e-stats are stats that do not have official results, for example, official meet results or video evidence. That's it, simple enough. So, the stats could actually be true, but they are still "e-stats" if they don't have official proof... The stats could very well be lies, but they are still "e-stats" if they don't have official proof.

So, simple question, is it ok to promote yourself (as a coach, athlete, etc) or your program/seminars/books/whatever using e-stats?

Discuss!

it would be like running 100m vs nobody and running sub 11. I mean, it does not count untill i get people there and a witness/camera :)

From this day forth, I never jumped higher than 36.5", because that's what I jumped officially on a vertec. Just letting yall know. When I get my head on the rim I might count that as 47", as long as I measure the hoop, because you never know, I could be jumping on 8' rims.

Seriously.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

thursday: easy run 60+ mins @ 5:20-5:30 (11+ km), strength/cross-training
friday: rest
saturday: short tempo 6-8x500 @ sub-4:00 (7 km)

- squats 3x6-8 or weighted BSS/lunges 3x10/leg
- RDL/hypers 2x10-12 or SLRDL 2x10-12/leg
- upper push myo-reps or sets to technical failure
- upper pull myo-reps or sets to technical failure
- leg raises, holds, pallof presses

I love this thread. I voted yes, because, that is exactly what I do and if I voted no, well that would make me a hypocrite.

Also, it is usually easy to spot when someone is just bullshitting. They have mind blowing stats.

Now, last night I was reading your post about how nearly everyone who is selling a program HAD elite level stats. Linkenauger aside, this is true, although I don't think my running VJ of somewhere mid 30's was anywhere near elite, it did get me thinking, I wonder how high I can jump now.

Anyway, I took a video on my iphone after I finished my weekly pickup game of basketball today which I will post tonight. I am guessing I have a running VJ of about 31 inches right now. Not bad given I am nearly 36 years old, 8kg heavier with sore knees, just played basketball for an hour, and have performed no vertical jump training in nearly two years.

Thanks Andrew, but as you know - if there is no video it never happened.  :(

I get that suggestion a lot. I think I am probably only 6 inches off my best. I am sure if I dropped back to 74kg again and then spent some time to getting my strength numbers back up I would gain a couple of inches right there, but the knees are the big hurdle. They won't stand up to the max effort jumping. I did two efforts today for my video which I am really looking forward to showing you later today (in your face Hiller  :D) and they are killing me.

That said, I was speaking to one of the sports doctors at one of the football clubs I consult with and he was telling me about an operation that is being developed in Western Australia that apparently will help tendonitis suffers like me re-grow quality tendon tissue. If that happens and my knees do get better I would have another shot at it - even if I am damn near 40 at the time.

there will be no official results since there is no sanctioned vertical jump contest. not all rims are 10ft, and testing equipment can be fixed to your advantage.

everything is e-stat in the jumping community. some are just more legit that others  :D

if i didn't put it in the title.. i could have made this a high 30s jump and il still look valid to some
