hahahahaha :D. I applied there for a job, before going on their website. Then I went on their website. Glad the gym wasn't hiring any trainers!
"Performance during stretch-shortening cycle exercise is influenced by the visco-elastic properties of the muscle-tendon units. During stretching of an activated muscle, mechanical energy is absorbed in the tendon structures (tendon and aponeurosis) and this energy can subsequently be re-utilized if shortening of the muscle immediately follows the stretching. According to Biscotti (2000), 72% of the elastic energy restitution action comes from tendons, 28% - from contractile elements of muscles.

Not all Planet Fitnesses are as bad as the ones described in the article. The one I go to has a squat rack, 2 benches and an incline bench. I deadlift with chalk although I do clean up any mess. They have never used the lunk alarm since I've been there. The only person who was kicked out was harassing the female clientele.

The article is pretty accurate with regards to the members not really wanting to better themselves. But that is a good thing for me. I can use the squat rack for an hour and not be bothered with anyone. Most people who use the squat rack do it for curls and they have enough common sense not to interrupt someone who is truly working out.

Another benefit is that the women think I'm a beast when I deadlift 350 pounds. I know it's not a lot of weight at a real gym but it is at PF.

I've never seen anybody deadlift more in my gym than me, or squat. And I deadlift 330 lbs and squat 310.

its gonna be legit, i guess a lot of them dont have squat racks so you cant deadlift, but ill just take the bar off the bench and load it up while screaming ronnie coleman quotes

NUTTIN BUT A PEANUT!!

wut, why you need a rack to deadlift wTf.. prop the bar up on a 5 lb plate, roll it onto it to put the extra 45's on that you need.. ;d

pc

I will say that the 1 Planet Fitness that I've been to, which my dad, and his really good friend workout at basically about 4 days a week, as well as my bro and his fiancee and a couple of my uncle's all belong to, doesn't have any free bars, they have about 4 Smith Machines with benches under them, they have DBs up to 70lbs.  And all the rest are machines and cable cross's.  I laugh when I go in there, they are stacked with cardio machines and they have 2 "Life Fitness" (or maybe Cybex) "circuits" if you want to call it that, so from what I've heard generally people, people go in there start on bicep curls and move on down the line like drones.  Wouldn't want to upset the establishment.

I don't understand how people can support this, they are hypocrites. They call it a judgement free zone yet they judge people by labeling people "lunks"... right. So basically they don't judge you as long as you are like them.

Also, they call themselves a fitness gym yet they don't promote a fitness lifestyle. They should take the fitness part of off their name and just call themselves "Planet". They are a disgrace to serious people/businesses in the fitness industry.  Offering shitty food and only allowing and encouraging low intensity training.

If reading this shit doesn't make you irate then wtf.

'da fuck outta here with this shit.

Exactly! When I stay with my extended family in Delaware during the summer, I go to a strength/bodybuilder/ barbell gym because i dont have a squat rack like i do at my new york house. But every time I go to the gym, the experience is terrific and the bodybuilders/strength guys are nicer than anybody else I encounter on a daily basis despite the fact that I'm a skinny kid squatting pathetic amounts of weight.

yup, I don't really even know what it means to be "motivated by a normal person".. I can't imagine getting motivated by anyone at planet fitness, can you? The "don't judge but we judge" mentality is ridiculous.

It's kind of funny how "weak out of shape people" group together to make fun of "strong athletic dedicated people".. baffles teh mind.
