Tate Martell

Watching QB1- Beyond the Lights. 1 of the 3 QB featured is a guy called Tate Martell. It's interesting how his college career has totally flopped. He should spend more time practicing and less time on Twitter.

I haven't finished watching the first series of QB1 but Tate Martell comes across as an arrogant, entitled, spoilt douche. Basically he was a QB prodigy and got multiple offers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tate_Martell
Martell was rated by Scout.com as a five-star recruit and was ranked as the second best dual-threat quarterback, fifth best quarterback of any type, and 56th best player overall in his class.[6] He originally committed to the University of Washington when he was 14.[7][8] In 2015, he changed his commitment to Texas A&M University.[9] In May 2016 he decommitted from A&M and a month later committed to Ohio State University.[10][11] Martell transferred to Desert Pines High School after his senior season, so that he could graduate and enroll at Ohio State early.[12]

After going to Ohio State he failed to get a starting spot and in late 2018 Justin Fields announced that he would be looking to transfer to Ohio State.

word of advice:

2 weeks later after sending that tweet of insecurity he requested a transfer to Miami.

Recently he lost out the starting spot in Miami to redshirt Freshman QB Jarren Williams.

Would bang his sister though!

don't see the callout here. if this was grayson allen punching players in the nuts, then i'd get it. but just seems like a potentially "over hyped" college kid, acting like a frustrated college kid. to me, the problem here is the "hype machine". these are student athletes. they don't get paid, so one way of making up for that is trying to get more attention.

this is a good example of why the NCAA is trash. getting kids to commit at 14 y/o etc, to play for a team & not get paid, then they go to that university and someone else takes their "job". plus NCAA football has a "3 year rule" - sure those kids aren't usually ready to go to the NFL, but some are. instead, making them play for free at a university, risk getting career ending injuries etc.

Yeah I was being a hater when I wrote this.

The main callout is because of his tweet to Justin Fields and then not competing for the role. I can actually see why he walked out though.

He spent 2 years being a back up. He would have believed that he would be the starter in 2018, but Dwayne Haskins took that role. Once Haskins left he must have thought he would be the starter. He was a 5 star recruit who overlooked a lot of offers to join Ohio State. Yet instead of giving him a chance they bring in Justin Fields, which doesn't show much loyalty to him. If he didn't win the starter role he would have been screwed, but he hasn't won the starting role at Miami either.

We'll see what happens to him this season.

Apparently he's now playing as a receiver as he is the 3rd string QB at Miami.

I agree the play from Washington was bs but he should have stuck with his commitment to Texas A&M before decommitting to Ohio State. When he was committed to A&M he was their heir apparent at QB.
