seems dumbs to start a new thread about this but the combine is upon us again and i was reminded of one of the craziest combine moments ever. four years ago, byron jones broke the world record in the broad jump bob beamon-style, hitting 12'3", which is 8" farther than any other player since 2003. NFL verticals may be a little goosed because of how they measure reach but you can't fake a broad jump. pay attention to the other DB standing in the background at 0:04.

44.5 inch vertical and 4.36 40 yard as well, which certainly contradicts his combine profile.

"Not a quick-twitch athlete".
"BOTTOM LINE Instinctive cornerback with good size and adequate speed. Has the ball skills and anticipation needed for the position. Jones' balance and overall athleticism could be a concern in man coverage and his season-ending shoulder injury will need to be examined. He would be an interesting free safety prospect with his instincts, but might lack the physicality for the position".

Since this thread has amalgamated itself into 2019 and 2020 this seems fitting.

that 12'3 broad jump always blows my mind. can't imagine having that kind of power.
i remember training some powerful baseball player who got like 10'3 or 10'6.. i forget. whatever it was, looked nuts. 12' is on a whole different planet.
nfl athletes, best in the world.

Tanner Muse 6'2 227lbs and ran a 4.41 at the NFL combine, 20 reps of 225lbs bench and a 34.5 inch vertical. Ended up getting drafted as a linebacker for the Raiders in the 3rd round at pick 100.

Running a 4.4 is awesome but at 227lbs is insane. The most impressive 40 I've ever seen is Chris Johnson. Running 4.2 at 200lbs+ and he had great longevity with his career.
