not intended to be comprehensive, other youtube's/sites have all of that, instead, this will just include some things I found very important when working on my game, which most sites/youtube's don't list. Form-shooting drill: - make sure alignment is correct on shot, the side you're shooting on, that foot should be out in front slightly of the other foot. Naval should be squared with rim. Slight knee bend, whatever just follow through properly, arm should go straight up with proper wrist flick (follow through), arc should be high.. this will help you get your J right. - their are a few variations to this drill which i intended to get in the video but lights went out. I'll make another video. - do these every day to set the mechanics of your shot, to make it a reflex, to make everything work properly every time you take actual jumper's.. this stuff will get programmed into you if you do it every day, but it has to be done with proper form to be programmed correctly.. 300 reps a day would have you really improving your shot, you can mix it up though, make sure you move around too. I rarely shoot from the same spot unless I miss, then get mad and re-make that shot. - most shots should hit nothing but net. here's the video for now, just because some people need it: reminder, i'll make a new video with like 9 minutes straight of all variations, show you how you can get in tons of shots/skill work. pc NEW DRILL: Drill by Taylor Horton, varied dribbling for time test, to track improvement on handles.. His best time so far is 4:35, can you beat it?

ya bro. i always find my shooting is bionic when i do form shooting during the week. i do my form shooting with 1 hand though.
Don't do form shooting with one hand. It's not advantageous to your form or shot at all. You shoot with your off hand (or guide hand as I call it) up there because that's how you shoot in a game. Sure there is the argument that your practicing 'form', not 'game-speed' shots; but you don't shoot one handed in a game unless it's a runner or layup so it's not helpful in the slightest. Not to mention that your form is completely different with one arm instead of the normal two. You bring the ball up differently, your balance is different and your timing and motion is off. It's just not a good idea unless your other arm is broke.

Nope, easy fix is to not extend your guide hand completely. That was you don't mess up your hand positioning and the way you bring the ball up. Stop your guide hand when your elbow is only bent about 10 degrees and then finish your shot naturally with your correct follow through. One handed shooting is bad, plain and simple.

One handed shooting is bad, plain and simple. if its bad why jj reddick used it? he was the best shooter in the college. broke nomerous records and if he uses it then it cant be bad. Worst Argument Ever. However, I do feel one hand shooting is beneficial. The ultimate form of shooting is shooting one handed (shooting w. 2 hands = two forces = more complex/difficult coördination). If it were possible and stable, I'd rather shoot everything one handed, agreed? So in stead of reasoning backwards from game-like shooting, I'd rather take this ultimate form of shooting and start from there. Shooting with one hand is a great first step to building good form; your body needs to realise you want to shoot one handed and the best way of doing so is removing the hand and practise your followthrough, plain and simple. After the athlete/body is comfortable shooting one handed, a guide hand should be added, after that bringing the ball up etcetera. All the arguments for balance, footwork, timing do not apply because we are building correct form and are only looking at the followthrough (which should ultimately be one handed). Had a bigger and better post but the forum keeps logging me out dammit
