i've never read "the jump manual", so I cannot speak about the product. My beef with Hiller and/or his affiliates, is that, when I search "vertical jump" in youtube and sort by upload date, all I see is a flood of very stupid jump manual advertisements, many of which steal other people's footage and put it in the videos. I have no idea if hiller does that himself, or if other people do it for him without his approval, regardless, it's so damn annoying. All I want to do is find vertical jump videos, and I have to sift through garbage like this: or this, using WGF (WannaGetFast) & Frank Yang footage to advertise "the jump manual".. this shit is pissing me off, WGF & Yang are legit, that for sure I know.. If Hiller has any control over his affiliates or these videos, if he would please tell them to stick to "jump manual" footage, and not use other people's footage in their videos. It's grimey and disrespectful.. If your product is legit, then it'll have testimonials, it'll have performance mixes, it'll have all that, don't steal the work of legit coaches & legit athletes and USE THEM to sell your product. That is the definition of dirty & pathetic. That's my main beef with this whole jump manual advertisement campaign right now. Flooding youtube & stealing footage is pathetic.

an inch a week would be legendary, however, it all depends on what level the athlete is at already.. there's no way to really say generally how much you can gain in vert from any program, it all depends on experience level, strength, life stressors, diet, effort by the athlete, effective programming, etc.. so ya and inch a week is pretty much unheard off for 95+% of the population of athletes.

Before I learned the right informations about jumping, I easily believed the claims that Jacob Hiller said. But now, I don't believe anything he says and I think he is a bad guy for misinforming people about their gains. I think he just said that to promote Jump Manual which is just a one-size-fits-all program as reported by Jack Woodrup: http://www.verticaljumping.com/jump_manual.html

I think he just said that to promote Jump Manual which is just a one-size-fits-all program as reported by Jack Woodrup: http://www.verticaljumping.com/jump_manual.htmlwell, i know one thing is for sure, making blanket claims about the gains (vert/speed etc) you can expect by doing a program, is part of what is wrong with the industry.. it just isn't that easy.. the chances of "one inch a week" for someone with good experience, or even 0.5" a week, is just not solid.. if it were, you'd see so many transformations it would be ridiculous.. All gains taper off quickly, so it depends on what level you're starting at, but 1" a week is pretty ridiculous.. 0.5" a week sounds more reasonable but that's only available for a short time, 2-3 months before having to reset and build a bigger base.. once you get to the "experienced" athlete stage, one who has spent considerable time lifting/jumping/sprinting etc, then gains are pretty hard to come by. Most gains then come from really pushing your limits and improving your base, then trying to peak with that new base, it's definitely not an easy process.. people who make it sound easy just muddy the crystal clear fiji-like waters that is real s&c. pc

I like Jacob and do not wish to speak badly of him but anybody guaranteeing inches to sell programs is lying to sell programs. It is the GREAT LIE of most vertical jump programs. He isn't the only one who has done it but when you consider some of the others are Lowery (6 inches), and Maroko, it isn't good company. I still think Jump Manual though is a better program than many others available, specially if you are just starting out.

Claims of "1 inch a week" etc. are funny since gains in athleticism are rarely ever linear anyway, you may work 6 weeks before you ever gain much of anything, then gains may be realized at the end of the cycle in a very short time period, cumulatively. If you averaged it out it may or may not come out to be some random number the program creator came up with per week but thats not how it works in the real world anyway. Kids are training then testing their jump at the end of each week, dissapointed that they dont have their guaranteed 1". Thats what sells programs though to youth searching the net for "vertical jump programs", if program x guarantees 10 inches and program y guarantees 12, theyre going with program y even though both are full of squatflex.

x1000 It's basically detrimental to training as a concept. I mean, forget concepts, detrimental to EVERYTHING training wise because it gives and forms the wrong training mentality to begin with. When you think about it, training really is simple. There's nothing that complicated that you need a program or whatever. At best, your form as a beginner needs correction and then it's all a matter of consistency, nutrition, rest and good form and common sense. Some flexibility work and core and that's it.
