Foam rolling: Great activity? Or the greatest activity?

Foam rolling hurts like a motherfucker (at least for my adhesion-packed ass) but it feels so good afterward and it helps so much with tissue health in the medium-long term. Could not agree more with this.

Other nice things to do are rolling the bottom of your foot, shoulders and glutes with a tennis or lacrosse ball. And calves/soleus/peroneals if you're feeling especially masochistic.

you gotta hand it to zgin, though, that was exceptionally well-placed.

High five, zgin.

i must admit, i'm not at all a fan of foam rolling.. for some people, yes, it really does help, mostly with the ITBand.. but honestly, after i stopped foam rolling i actually realized i felt better.. long warmups and post-session stretching i find much more effective, imo.

i have to agree, as cliche/juvenile as it was, his eloquence & use of size 50pt font is to be admired.

"Now Cornell University neurobiologists, studying the adrenal glands of rats, have discovered how chronic stress cranks up the intensity of this adrenaline response. The key to this so-called molecular memory resides in a donut-shaped protein on the surface of cells that secrete adrenaline, the hormone also known as epinephrine."

PED's in drug free sports is cheating, unethical, and weak. Athletes and/or coaches who condone/display this behavior can get lost.

yea, but this is what i do as the post-session...i am trying to add in pnf stretching but this is pretty knew to me

so i'll hit static stretching, then pnf, and top it off with the foam rolling

and i always have long warm-ups when i work by myself...actually my warm up is so long it sometimes takes up to 45min if i go slow or get interrupted or something

How should one feel after foam rolling? After I foam roll for 5 mins on the tight part of my quads, I felt tighter (on that part) and I needed to stretch more to release the tension. Is that natural? i felt intense pain on that area. Or is that not tightness at all? Is it a different kind of pain or injury?
