Hi everybody, my friend Zet introduced me to adarq and I was interested enough to join up. My name is Scott, my username, Sir Tossestrees is in referrence to the highland games that I compete in. In one of the events you throw a tree, so that's that. Anyway, I'm excited to be here, and excited to have some people to share my experiences with and to learn from. To give you an idea of where I'm at physically, I weigh about 180, I bench 315, I squat 425, and I deadlift 405. I just got back from a shoulder injury, so these are my best post injury numbers. Before my injury I was benching 345, squating 485, and pulling 500 on deadlift, so the setback was not as bad as it could have been. I was out for about two and a half months, and I'm startin to really get back into it. In short, I'm excited to be lifting again, and excited to be a part of this forum. I don't really know how to go about ending this post, so this will be a very awkward and abrupt ending.

"Now Cornell University neurobiologists, studying the adrenal glands of rats, have discovered how chronic stress cranks up the intensity of this adrenaline response. The key to this so-called molecular memory resides in a donut-shaped protein on the surface of cells that secrete adrenaline, the hormone also known as epinephrine."

Yep, I compete in the highland games, I'll post a short vid of all the nine events for anybody less familiar with the sport and a short description.

Caber Toss (the tree toss previously mentioned) is where you pick up a caber, a.k.a. tree, and throw it so it flips end over end. It is not about distance, the object is to get it to land in a twelve o'clock position relative to the direction in which you ran. Where you stop running is the 6 o'clock position. The following video is a caber toss.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujpfCRpqkFs

Sheaf Toss is my personal favorite. You take a sheaf (a burlap sack stuffed with twine, either 16 or 20 pounds depending on what class you compete in) and you throw it up over a bar using a pitch fork. Simple enough right?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W83WNLOVfBk

There are two weight for distance events, the heavy and the light, heavy being 56 pounds and light being 28 pounds. You just spin with the weight and throw it as far as you can. The weight is a metal ball attached by a chain to a handle. The video is just heave, if you want you can look up light weight for distance too, but its the same thing with just less weight.

Hammer Toss is also split into two events, heavy and light, 16 pounds and 22 pounds. It is quite literally just a big sledge hammer that you spin around your head and throw behind you.

There are two stone puts as well, both are pretty much the shot put. Open stone is exactly like the shot put, its a 16 pound stone and you have an approach, while braemar stone is a 24 pound stone that you throw from a standing position, no approach.

Braemar Stone              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EaRsePVpPw

Weight over bar is similar to sheaf toss, but it is with a 56 pound weight instead of a sheaf and you throw with your hands not a fork.

I'm a current state record holder for the Utah weight over bar and until recently I was the state record holder for Idaho weight over bar and sheaf toss. Its a lot of fun, and the competitors are great people. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the highland games that anybody has, so ask away.

Yeah, that was the plan, also I may ask if I can utilize your camera to get some videos up. Perhaps. We'll see.
