Anybody take any?

I just bought some (Piracetam, DMAE, DHA Fish Oil, Power Drive) and am going to experiment. I'll log doses how I feel/effects in this thread.

I used a product with DMAE in it, but there was other stuff in it so I cant say if it was the sole source of getting me jacked up to train,  I used Focus XT, wich is smiliar to Power drive and it works great

I took vinpocetine when I was in trade school. I think I ended up with ~90% with little to no studying. I also gave the remainder of what I have to my chick friend who's talking a different but very tough course(it's condensed instead of 10 month it's 5 month), and she's getting +95% on all of her projects/work, she says she notices it quite a bit.

10mg 3x/day with food.

These seem interesting.. maybe I should take them right before the SAT/ACT come around so I can get a jacked up score lol. I wonder if that's illegal?

Probably not illegal, but kind of douchie. I would do it.

Arowe, have you noticed any changes since you started taking nootropics?

Yea so lately I've been just messing around with the doses trying to see what will give the best positive effects.
Today I did about 3g of Piracetam, 500mg of plain DMAE, 1 serving of Power Drive. I'm also taking 2 softgels of Fish oil (500g DHA, 250g EPA softgel) in the morning with this and another 2 at night with a multi vitamin/mineral.

One day I took 1g of DMAE with ~1.8g of Piracetam and got extremely tired about 5-6 hours later so I've cut back the DMAE which has helped. Thinking I might try a different source of choline like Lecithin. It seems a lot of the veteran nootropic users don't think too highly of DMAE.

So far I haven't really noticed much but it's supposed to take a little while before you notice any obvious changes. I do seem to be a bit more stimulated a little bit after I take it though.

Keep in mind that I have also just come off of an ssri so my brain chemistry is changing from that too.

I think I'm going to add in Vinpocetine, have heard good things about it.

Royal, this is a lot of the reason why I'm doing it, to help with school.

You may not be aware of it, but academic steroids are real, completely legal, and clinically proven. I have spent the last 10 months researching, purchasing, and experimenting with nearly every single nootropic available. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nootropic) The effects have been profound. First, with the help of a little caffeine, I am able to study for the bar exam all day with zero mental fatigue. Second, I am able to read vast quantities of information only one time and spit it back with pinpoint precision. It is the closest thing to a photographic memory I have ever experienced. The information is just there on command when needed. When I take practice tests most days I have nearly perfect recall and my only mistakes are analysis.

Cool, I have heard a lot about dual n back on the nootropic forums but I've never checked it out. Definitely gonna start practicing  but should probably log how good I am at the start in order to track progress.

I used to N-back a lot, but I stopped a while back. We should start an n-back thread in the journals forum and compete Cheesy

Thought I would give an update on the dosages I'm using and how I feel.

The past couple of days I have been taking 2g of Piracetam, 1 serving of Power Drive, and 500mg of DMAE. I don't seem to have any side effects off of this. I think I was experiencing some brain fog from taking too much Piracetam.

I have noticed a huge difference in my emotions... much wider range.... I can get extremely excited/amp'd listening to music or thinking about vert or something. Like for the dunk session yesterday I made a special vert mix that I was listening to on the ride over and of course during the session... on the ride over I had goosebumps.

But of course the trade off is I can get angry and become very irritable. I'm pretty sure this is mostly due to coming off of the ssri as these reportedly "blunt" your emotions. Although the irritability is annoying I would rather have the wide range as that is what makes us human. I will just have to learn to deal with the anger/irritability better which I think I will be able to by thinking... when I was on an ssri this stuff didn't bother me and I did fine. So I know what the feeling/mindset is like, just have to recreate it.

Edit: Something else I have noticed, not sure what this is from... "sweets" don't taste as good to me now. I have never been a big sweets consumer but I usually keep at least something like Oreos stocked. Today they didn't even sound good, I ate one then put them away. I've noticed the thought of eating sweets lately doesn't even sound good, I only do it because it is a conditioned habit that it is supposed to taste good but lately as I take the first bite I think to myself this doesn't even taste that good. Next time you eat something sweet really think about how it tastes and ask yourself if it really tastes that good... I bet sometimes you'll realize it doesn't and you're just doing it out of habit and because you have been conditioned to think it tastes good and it's a "treat" for you.

That might not make sense but it's just something I have definitely noticed lately.

u sure ur not on crack?

nice write up.. interesting about the sweets. What's also interesting is that goosebumps response, I get the same thing when I'm jumping my highest, I can literally get goosebumps on command, at the mere thought of jumping. Come to think of it, I recall us talking about that way back.

I wonder how many other people get that..

lol, no crackkkkk. SSRI's and nootropics mess with your neurotransmitters though so you notice changes in the way you think/feel. The trick is to just get them to make you feel the way you want to.

Yea I remember us talking about the goosebumps thing. I've never had them this intense before.

I've got a noostack that I'll be taking in the near future.
Vinpocetine: 3x/day @ 10 mg with food(fat)
DMAE bitartrate(~30%DMAE)  :1-2x/day @ 600mg(2x/day when studying)
Aniracetam: 3x/day @ 600mg(take these with fat):
Oxiracetam: ½ hour before studying 600-800mg
Bacopa: 600mg 30-60 minutes prior to an exam

Yeah SSRI's fuck with you a lot more than is widely talked about. Doctors seem to hand them out for depression and anxiety like they do paracetamol for headaches. The reality is they're not a hell of a lot more elegant than amphetamines or other stimulants and they're preferred because they potential for abuse is lower because the side effects at large short term recreational doses are horrible. They also have some huge dependency issues and possible permanent damage after long term use.

Having said that, Citalopram really did help me when I was a kid. Apart from the weight gain.

Drugs are certainly interesting, especially in this country. But nootripcs have been around for thousands of years, in herbal medicine from China, India, south america, everywhere actually. Most, if not all tonic herbs will increase focus. The "tonic" herbs are the ones which Taoists revered for immortality, and believed them to greatly strengthen the body. Similarly to building muscles up stronger by going to the gym, tonic herbs strengthen the organs, the governers of bodily functions. But the good thing about herbs is that they balance the body's internal states of energy as well, keeping the organism healthy, which most people do not care about since we are looking for quick and easy ways to do things. Well there are immediate boosts in mental clarity from natural substances, people just don't know...here are some great options that will help people study better. And for the herbs, I recommend buying the actual herb and making a decoction/tea out of it, it's cheaper and more potent in many cases. Most of these herbs are also known as adaptogenic herbs too

1. Cacao beans/nibs - contains phenethylamine, closely related to methamphetamine, also high amount of antioxidants, blood flow to brain, keeps me up all night, too stimulating actually. Contains L-DOPA, domamine, serotonin as well... very complex
2. Cacao powder - cheaper, less effective, but pretty good boost
3. Rhodiola rosea - I have two articles on this on therawhigh.blogspot.com if you want scientific studies, stimulates CNS, not necessarily good for us who always stimulate the CNS. (i'm not selling it in the website)
4. Fasting in the morning, intermittently -increases brain levels of acetyl-l-carnitine
5. Anxiolytics - sedatives in other words can relax the brain, promote alpha brain waves, better than being overdriven in beta brainwaves for memorization.
6. Ashwaghanda - aphrodisiac for men and women, usually recommended for men. Helps resolve issues with HPA axis, helped me recover from overtraining like nothing else ever did.
7. Turmeric - obviously good for brain, and joints, inflammation. Kinda stimulating tho
8. Schizandra berries - less stimulating, feel it in brain pretty fast to sometimes.
9. Reishi mushroom - revered in china, calms the body
10. Meditation: I don't know the mechanisms really, except the alpha brainwave thing. Yogis who practice Kriya Yoga, a very meditative form, have told me they can retain almost everything they read. They are in a different state of conscoiusness, definitely more alpha brainwaves.
11. Hemp seeds - pretty damn cheap on nutsonline.com ($3/lb). One of the most potent plant based omega-3 forms, usually you can "feel" the brain energy right away. Chia seeds are even more powerful but difficult to chew. Good plant protein source too, and proteins are also good for the brain.
12. Marshmallow root and slippery elm bark - some recommendations to balance out the body. Many of us here on this forum need Yin yonics, b/c jumping and high intensity activities deplete the body. These have helped me focus, even tho it doesn't really make sense how.
13. BEEF LIVER - just so full of minerals . . .
14. SPIRULINA - also a food recommendation, contains 40+ trace minerals, gamma-linoleic acid, it is about 60% amino acids itself, pretty damn good brain boosting supplement and protein, and detoxification.
