Restrictions: I need a lot of volume and freq to make gains. I don't deal well with high intensity every workout (eg 3x5 PR every time) linear programs, preferring volume. I'm not trying to gain weight - this might mean training 3x instead of every other day but that's not written in stone; for now I'll aim for every other day training and may eventually drop to 3x if cutting demands it.
StrengthDay #1: 6x6 BP & SQ (~70% 1RM)
Day #2: 5x5 BP & SQ
Day #3: 4x4 BP & SQ
Day #4: 3x3 BP & SQ (~85-90% 1RM)
The triples are heavy and the sixes are lighter. I'm going to aim to add 2.5kg to each SQ workout, and 2kg to each BP workout (will drop to 1kg eventually).
Assistance exercises - have very weak/skinny legs - need to target hamstrings and quads. Any suggestions? RDLs and DL for hams and perhaps FS & split squats for quads? Will be doing ab wheel for abs and frequent chins for upper back. I need to add rows in too since I've got a weak upper back. Not sure how to program these.. could I just do them often?
ConditioningNeed to walk before I can run - so i'll try to get in 2-3km a day of brisk walking. Then i'll add in light jogs and a few sprints. Would be nice to work in some basic jumping in here too - completely new to this - so input welcome on that too. How should I program this?
Does this look well rounded and sensible or are there things that need changing?
Thanks for reading.
