Scrim today August 9th/11

Changed the log total

Good attacked the hoop once. Started off slow missed like 4 three pointers  and couple lay ups in a row because defender was playing off me. Then I came to a realization I was like why the fuck i'm playing into his hand like this. Then I took it too him for the rest of the scrimmage driving to the hoop shooting the occasional three and pulling up. Got him pretty bad. I could have been like fuck it i'm having a bad night i'm just going to dwell on that but I was like no Fuck this I'm a great basketball player and i'm going to show it. Mental

Notes
-dunk every chance still passing it up sometimes, like my friend says "No one is going to block you just go up and dunk it
-play smart beginning of the scrimmage I was playing like a retard. Use your teammates than they'll hit you when your open
-don't take tough shots when you can get a easier one
-dunking mentality
-No excuses postive mentality is what helped me turn a potentionally shitty scrimmage into a good-great one headbang
-d-wade euro step is working refine this
-floaters where good tonight lol I was actually think of taylor horton when I was doing some of them. Thanks bro

I'm in great shape right now I don't think I was out of breath once that entire scrimmage  Grin. I'm going to always play to my strengths and not let my defender dictate what i'm going to do

Bodyweight circuit (abs in here ya I did em)
muscle ups
4
3
1
renegade row 30lbs
12 each side
10 side
8 side

10 reps +10lb held behind head
5 reps + 5lb
5 reps + 5 lbs

pushups

Figured out something big today... you know how their are two general stances the squared about shooting stance A.K.A Ray allen, Peja, vs more of a stagered stance like d-wade, Kobe Michael. I was always trying to force myself to shoot squared but I figured out that I like to shoot more staggered and it is easier for me to keep a consistant line like that

I tried squared up shooting long time ago, because it was the "right" way to shoot.  Lol, my arms are too short, I can't get a good straight form with my legs squared, I've been shooting REALLY staggered stance since and my jumpshot is wet.  There ain't no right way, just do what works for you.

But if the defense knows that you can't shoot while squared up...wouldn't that make you less dangerous in the triple threat position?

Idk about that man.  If you look at the examples it tells a different story.  Peja, ray allen vs kobe, michael out of triple threat?  Maybe that's too small of a sample to say which stance would be better out of triple threat, because kobe n michael are on a different level, but I don't see a problem really.  Any good player can get around just having to do one step to get into their shooting stance.  Having a staggered stance can also work in your favor too because if you have a pretty good shot, your defender will be more likely to react to a pump fake if they see you change your stance with it.

Thanks for the comments guys. When I say staggered I guess I means I'm letting my body rotate more when I'm landing. I usually catch the ball in a squared stance but when I shoot I let myself land in a staggered stance and this is mostly just for threes. So basically I'm just letting my body rotate into a more staggered positon on my landings.... its not drastic or anything but its not 100% squared

August 10th/11

Thrusday

Chilled until 6.00pm

Went through movement day in shooting really focused on footwork and balance
90 shots

7.00pm scrimmage

Good turnout started off pretty good. Played agressive but was smart taking shots when they were there

I got in defensive battle with this kid for a 2 games. He is one of those fundmentally sound basketball players that does everything right...... which makes him a bitch to guard. So I'm battling him I have to stop cuts, box out every shot, run the floor. We hold each other scoreless until game point in game 2, I make a quick cut catch the ball shot right away we win game 2. I know it may not sound like a big deal but the fact that I was able to defensively shut him down then hit a critical shot showed me that I can do this against anyone.

I continue to do well the whole scrimmage. Doing a little bit of everything hitting threes pullups and getting transition hoops. I also had 2 dunks so thats legit  Cool. My second dunk I took off from pretty far. I was on a fastbreak and I hadn't planned my steps well enough... one more dribble i'm way to close to the hoop and 1 less I'm pretty far away. I took pretty far away and finished the dunk Cheesy.

Good scrimmage overall, had a good number of unversity guys. Scrimmages like this show that I have what it takes to play at the unversity level

Started off with ball handling moves
-my spins suck must work on spins

Mostly just focused on attacking stuff I did decent
-practice euro step ( If i get on the break I know I can dunk off a euro step d-wade style)

Shooting
-catch and shoot do not bring ball down (Coach)
-follow through with the two fingers close to thumb (Coach)
-Need to have quick release, unversity level defence closes out faster (Coach)

Good workout pretty tired after this but felt like I got better and thats what matter

11-12

Stim squats plus abs
225x1
240x1
255x1
270x1
285 or 290x1 can't remember

Rep speed slowed down so I called it a day

1.30-2.00
3x400m 90 RI
-good speed helped that brother was their running with me

Good day of training.

One day at a time

Hmm I wouldn't say so.  I actually am the most dangerous when I do catch the ball in a triple threat position.  I can easily be in a triple threat position with my right foot forward.  I still have the drive left or right, the pass, and the shot.  When I say I have a staggered stance, my right foot is forward and my body is a little bit at an angle facing like a 10:00~11:00 angle.
