I'm just worried about staying too clean and not actually getting that calorie count.

Tuesday 19/12/113 Sets - 8 Reps - 78kg (75kg Round) - Completed!1 Set - 1 Rep - 84kg (85kg Round) - Completed!2 Sets - 2 Reps - 90kg - Completed!1 Set - 1 Rep - 96kg (95kg Round) - Completed! Diet7 Glasses of Water, 2 Pieces of French Toast, 2 250ml Up&Go, 400ml Protein Shake (High Protein/High Carb Blend), 100g Assorted Nuts, 140g Diced Pear, Spaghetti Bolognese, Cup of Coffee Overall ThoughtsThe first set today was absolutely atrocious. I'm not going to lie, I felt like I'd broken my back in 6 places after the set. I knew it was going to be bad, but it was terrible. Worse than yesterday. Anyhow, after that first set, the following sets were fine. No problems - I'd like to go a little deeper on some of the heavier sets, however. I'm scared that I'll fail and drop the barbell, cracking the concrete (again) and damaging the barbecue behind me. But hey, got to do what you can, right? This is why I'd ideally like to go to a gym where there's a little more room to work. I'm going to try to get some videos of my form up, because that first set felt like hell. The problem wasn't the pain during the set so much as the lower back pain afterwards. That's what I want to completely get rid of. Usually, I'm able to prevent this from happening by swinging my hips through after coming to the top of the squat. I did this during today's workout and the lower back pain subsided after the first set. Tomorrow's going to be ridiculously tough. Particularly the first set. Heavy heavy weights now. I'm going to have to go to the gym because I don't have enough weight at home.

Nice journal man. We got pretty similar stats except i'm 5'11 and you're 6'4. We've both got the same squat, same weight, same standing vertical jump and pretty much the same running vertical jump. Anyway it'll be interesting to look at how this smolov cycle goes for you. Goodluck man.

Random post from T-nation- "Best advice I can give, though it will sound like a broken record, is to squat, squat, squat and heavy if you want to improve your sprint times. One of my favorite anecdotes related to this is from "Romo" (Bill Romanowski's autobiography). He talks about when he first started working with Remy Korchemny on speed work and Remy asked him if he was squatting. Romo (to my surprise) said he wasn't and was only doing leg presses for lower body work.So Remy tells Romo to start squatting and after awhile, excited with his progress, Romo comes back to Remy and tells him he can squat 400. Remy answers, "Good. Now you can squat as much as my women sprinters." Granted most of Korchemny's athletes were juiced to the gills - he was one of the guys taken down with the BALCO bust - but I think there's something to be learned there, nonetheless."

Got sick of updating in multiple places. Currently only posting off-line. Will ask for help and post necessary information when required.

Looked at your diet, and I don't know if you've changed it, but drink more water.

I think it's safe to say this guy quit...it's a shame, I wanted to see what his final 1RM would be after starting at 265.

lol... 265 1RM and this guy does smolov even if he gains a lot, much of the gains probably wont even stick with him afterward.

I've just got back in town from touring for the past couple of weeks and I'm ready to begin lifting again. For those of you interested, I've been recording my lifting here: http://liftinglog.info (haven't lifted in a couple weeks because I've been at volleyball tournaments). It became too much of a hassle recording here, there and in every other spot. I've been looking at 5-10 minutes of free time every single day for the past couple of months and just haven't been able to dedicate it to Adarq. I know, excuses excuses, but that's how it is. The ONLY place I will be actively recording my lifting work is at Lifting Log. Having said that, I haven't done any max testing since I've been stuck for time. Just trying to get the reps in at the academy. I've also been offered a Tier 1 scholarship this year at the academy meaning I'll be training up to 5 hours a night most nights of the week. In addition to this, I'll be training in the mornings to get the extra work in. I'm looking to make +14cm or 5.5" on my PB vertical jump this year. I've been overloading each session at Lifting Log and felt really good about what I was doing in the gym. Only problem is that I've done no training for the past couple weeks meaning I'm going to be weak as hell when I start recording again (probably will begin on the weekend). Thanks for those of you who have been checking up.

So why did you choose to stop your Smolov cycle? Too difficult or just didn't have time?

At the time I was really after strength gains but in hindsight I really needed a combination of reactivity and strength work. It was doing no good for my volleyball.
