Hello! Just started to create a journal. I've already done the first two weeks of Beginner's Workout or the VertFreak.

AGE:17

HEIGHT:6 feet

WEIGHT:71.5 kls

CURRENT ABILITY: I have SVJ: 27"  RTVJ: 30" ROVJ: 27"

INJURY HISTORY: I have the Osgood Schlatter's Disease in my left knee but does not bother me much.

TRAINING HISTORY & ACHIEVEMENTS: I've done, inconsistently, VJB for the past 5 months and again around 5 inches.

CURRENT ACTIVITY LEVEL AND/OR TRAINING PROGRAM: I have 235lbs 1rm squat, 270lbs of deadlift

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF CURRENT DIET: I eat when I'm hungry. I learned from my  mistake that I can't gain mass while restricting my calorie intake. It took its toll in my squat because I plateaud at 95kls. When I stopped that habit and I eat when I should
to, I added about 10kls to my squat in three weeks or so.

GOAL: To have a RVJ of 45+ inches no matter how long it takes. But I wish I could attain it within 2 years. Embarrassed hehehe Cheesy With pure dedication!

  Just downloaded songs for me to be pumped up before I do my 1 rm as what I read in the Mind and Muscle Connection Article.
 For the past few weeks when I squat, the muscles that got sore was my quads so I will correct my form in my squat and do some glute activation before doing it. I'm very excited to proceed to my work-out! Grin

I had not time to do core workout of the VF 2.0 cause I need to attend a program in our church. So i'll need to move the core work-outs by a day.
My Lower leg didn't get sore when I woke up this morning. Maybe it will get sore later this afternoon. But I feel I targeted my glutes when I did the squats so I'm very satisfied.

December 29, 2010 Wednesday (Night)
After today's workout namely, tempo runs and burpees for recovery session, my lower leg became sore! Especially my lower butt which is the part of my lower leg that I need to target. So this session is a success!

nice... are you trying to make the maroons basketball team? i tried out last year...  didnt make it... i will try out again in march or april... thats why im training my ass off this whole year... to prepare for that...

i live here in the philippines.. I study at FEU...

my training is ok... so far... i can grab the rim with two hands on a good day... still cant dunk... pero malapit na (close)

your training is legit too... vertfreak... astig yan... you just have to stick with it... this shit aint easy pare...

Meh. talunan ang UP Maroons! We din't win any game last season! And I saw how the coaches train the team! Basura(trash)! Sad They practice everyday and even if it is off season, they don't do any weight training! Lips Sealed I'm thinking if I'll join the varsity or just join the track and field(high jump event) varsity instead.

those are good lifts already for your bodyweight, nice job getting up to those.

ya that's pretty hard for pretty much anyone, unless they are roiding.. only way that happens is with a high protein intake and some insane volume on big compound lifts, but even then it isn't going to last long.. you always need at least maintenance kcal's.

What do you mean by maintenance of kcal?

maintenance kcal, ie, maintenance calories.. you need to at least "eat enough calories to balance out how much energy you expend daily", if expenditure is greater than intake, then ya, it's pretty hard to put on mass.. on the flip side, you don't really need significant EXCESS calorie intake to build muscle, you just need maintenance or slightly over, no need to "dirty bulk".

well you could count calories based on serving sizes, weigh food, or just look at the scale daily, after taking a dump.. i go with option #3.. for example, after an intense training day, you don't want to way less the next morning than you have the last 3-4 days etc.. so just keep track of your weight in the morning, if you do, you have to force some extra food down to make up the deficit.. if you count calories it gets pretty OCD (obsessive compulsive) and isn't any more effective.

just make sure in the morning/after workouts you are getting in a good amount of protein, carbs + protein especially after workouts.
