old stuff:

Workout 8/19/11: Upper A

Chinups: +15lb rest paused; 10, 5, 4
-semi-PR, felt really weak on the last two sets

Dips: +20lb rest paused; 14, 9, 4

DB Press: 45x8 and 42.5lb, 3x8, 1x7
-pretty sick PR, 50's coming soon

injured my wrist slightly while hang cleaning today, resting

Need to get into NFL shape. Skill, Speed, Strength, Stamina.

9/6/11 Workout
bodyweight: 133.8lb
(hoping to break 135 soon)

Stamina / Skill
Mostly conditioning....it was a quick 40-45min workout, but I gassed hard and was tired as hell. Bad sign.

- 3 sets x (3 shots x 5 locations) full speed
- light jump roping
- 4 backyard suicides

gotta devote 1-1.5hrs/day to training...staying efficient in school is key

haha thx, you know what it is man... no one cares about the work, it's only when you start winning that other dudes give a shit anyways

old stuff:

9/7/11 Workout: Strength & Speed

Upper B
Bench Press: 135x?, 5x5 with 115, 115, 115, 110, 110

-5x5 is boss, got much better, nearly at 5x5 with 115 now

DB Rows: 2x8 with 60, 55
-60's are too hard, back to 55 next time

Bicep Curls: 60lb rest paused; 11, 5, 3
-biceps workin' it

Overhead DB Press: 3x8 with 27.5lb, 2x8 with 25lb

Pullups: bodyweight; something like 7, 4, 3
-really rushed

Plyo's
kinda random over here, no structure
-SL bounds 3x3
-Single Leg Pogos 2x8
-lots of running jumps, pretty bad (28")

you are a beast! one question why such short rest time in between heavy squats? just wondering how you are able to complete the sets with the short rest time?  strong

Daaaamn man, thanks! College life sounds like heaven in high school; but all the college kids complain about how it's high school^2.

I feel you though, I'm taking a damn rigorous load in my junior year, and with SAT's approaching (aim:2300), it's getting extremely hard to workout during the week at all.

Thanks man, I follow a rest pause training routine that Lance suggested for me; you can read about it in his section ('time efficient training' or something like that). There's a variation for lower body lifts that has got my squat going nuts. Basically you go something like this:

Week 1: Max out, use 90% of weight and do 10 reps with 45s rests
Week 2: 10 reps, 30s rests
Week 3: 10 reps, 15s rests
Week 4: 10 reps, 7s rests
Week 5: 10 reps all the way

It completely ruins you mentally and kills you physically as well; but that's how you get the proper attitude to haul ass and lift some heavy weight. And it feels amazing finishing the cycle Smiley . My first cycle started at 115lb about an year ago, now I'm somewhere around 225.

Workout 9/10/11: Strength
bodyweight: 132.4lb
soreness: none
protein: 150-200g

Squat: 135x3, 185x1, 225x1, 250x1, 265xF, 225x3
-took some Universal Shock Therapy, first prewkt supplement I've ever tried. didn't feel too much of a rush; warmup squats felt good, but after the 250x1, I knew there was a low chance of hitting 265...still, decided that it would be better to try, but got stuck on the way up and couldn't pass that shit...I think I'm gonna change the routine into the 3 set rest-pause method (45s rests), and start off with 225lb. Every time I hit 10 reps on the first set, gotta up weight

Deadlift: 4x3 with 135, 185, 205, 225, 245x1, 260x1
-huge pr, didn't even use straps lol. I think it was partly from anger at 265xF

Lunges SUPERSETTED with Calf Raises: 155x8, 155x6 on lunges; 2x12 on calf raises
-I srsly thought I was gonna throw up on second set, shit was nuts

Leg Curls: 2x9 with 140, 130
- failed 10th rep on both of these, legs were super wobbly when I finished lol

---
In retrospect, workout was not bad at all....except for that 265xF. I nearly threw up after; could barely breathe for like 15 mins.....work it son

vid of squats + deads coming up soon

EDIT: did some light stamina/skill work after, nothing worth logging tho

Not sure about the plateu thing; I might be at that point just right now, but I'm still not sure....it's much more likely its my reduced protein intake + vegetarianism could be prime contributing factors. As for trying it, I'd ask Lance about it....personally I think it's okay if you have VERY STRONG form and are at about 1.5xbw squat (I started prematurely).

Uh.... No. Absolutely not. College is not high school^2. It's generally easier and you have less classes. Well... not easier, but if you're smart you won't have to spend the 3hrs outside of class for every 1hr in class that people say. It's really not that bad, especially if you've done AP/honors stuff in high school. My problem is that I'm a music major, studying education. My classes are fairly spread and a lot of them only give me 1 credit, so even though I'm not actually in classes for that long during the day, I'm in classes THROUGHOUT the day, with breaks in between, but none of them big enough to get a decent workout in, although I have had some okay squat days after classes but I haven't really made gains. On top of that I work in the library doing cleaning for 2-3hours every day, so basically I'm on campus all day even though I still live at home. The days I have gone to the gym, I've gotten home around 9pm after being at school from 9am. I'm still trying to find which foods work a little better than others to carry with me that don't take forever to eat or don't need any preparation so I can just eat them in the breaks between classes.

Damn, yeah college life is a freedom mixed with work. Where do you go? My area is hella competitive in general; I'm aiming for UCLA/UChicago. My high school sends out ~30 kids to UC Berkeley and UCLA each year....crazy kids around here.
