Whats good.
Like your shot, decent handle too, will be tracking this.

However, squats till failure? Not so sure, highly injury sensitive if you ask me, plus at your stage you should def. Think about getting multiple work sets in.
also, the 2 day full body split is real tough, I'd rather have you implement another workout for upper body and add some bw excercises throughout the week, hm
Get loose Darq!

Go get that benz (wait wut?)

My goal is to reach a 45 inch running vertical. I am going to do four cycles, all lasting 4 weeks long for a total of 16 weeks of training. After each cycle I will take a week off to rest completely. Heres the first cycle:

CYCLE I/WEEKS 1-4

WORKOUT A:

Squats - 2 warm up sets, then 2 failure on 3rd set.

Barbell Calf Raises - 3x15

GHR’s - 3x8

Split Squats - 3x8

(Plyos)

Cone Hops - 3x10

Rim Jumps (go parralel before exploding up) - 3x8

Ricochet Box Jumps - 3x15

Depth Jumps - 3x5

(Upper Body)

Dumbbell Press - 2 warm up sets, then 2 failure on 3rd set

Incline Bench Press -5x4x3x2x1

Decline Bench Press - 5x4x3x2x1

WORKOUT B-

Box Squat - max out (i understand this is putting a lot of stress on my muscles, this could either work great or be a complete failure, gunna be interesting to see!)

Standing 1-leg calf raises - 3x10/leg

GLH’s - 3x10

Side to side Box Jumps - 3x10

Single Leg Box Jumps - 3x8

Tuck Jumps - 3x15

Box Jumps - 3x5

Thats the first 4 week cycle. Probably gunna do something like Workout A on Monday and Workout B on Thursday. Let me know your thoughts on this guys.

i'm confused on workout A, you do plyos after lower, then upper after plyos? or what? that confuses me, that looks like such a long session. Workout B also has some reactive work after fatiguing lower body work, why do you do it like that? am i misinterpreting?

I was looking for a way to motivate myself even further to reach my goal of getting a division 2 basketball scholarship. I figured, not many white, 5foot8 guys are going to have a basketball tattoo unless they went somewhere in the sport. I figured getting a basketball tattoo would motivate myself to earn it, so someday when somebody asked about the tattoo I could have an answer other than "i like basketball"

Here it is, let me know what you think! I personally love it and it deffinetly ddid what i was hoping for

tat looks pretty cool, and pretty new.. i like it, definitely came out good.

peace man!

this jump was from a test i did in my kitchen (lol) yesterday. I tried to different ways of jumping. One way I took a longer last step and got a lot lower into the jump, and tried to get up using more strength. The second way I tried was a much faster decent into the jump and more of a spring up. Needless to say the second approach made me jump a good 3-4 inches higher. I need to master jumping this way. Heres a still from a video i took jumping with the second technique

The ceiling is exactly 8 feet high. I got about an inch or so of my chin over the wall, and i tried measuring and my head is about 8 inches high. Im 5'8 so this would result in:

8 feet is 96 inches + the 8 inches i got over so 104-68 = roughly a 35-36 inch jump. Not bad considering i had 3 feet of room to run up to the wall and i've been extremely sick/tired/fatigued lately. Much more comming on that.

this is a dunk from over the summer. about 36 inches or so there

Did a quick upper body workout today. Did incline bench and my shoulders just dont respond to it well at all. Done doing barbell presses, dumbbells feels so much better and i get such a better ROM. waiting til January 1st to start my first cycle.

Quick background on whats going on lately.

Basically, heres the last year of my life in a nutshell:

Varsity basketball season from November to February
Spring AAU from March to June
Practiced hard every single day in the summer/ summer league games for varsity every tuesday and thursday
after summer league ended, started doing fall league, games every sunday

as SOON as fall league ended i did a fucking brutal "bootcamp" conditioning program every thursday night up in Boston with the aau team im going to be playing for this comming spring (by the way, it took my 6 years to finally get on a good AAU team. im going to get tons of exposure on this team. our first tournament is the LeBron James Showdown in Akron...)

But anyways, this boot camp conditioning thing was just brutal. 2 straight hours of non stop conditioning. never seen so many kids throw up in my life.

So basically ive had a year of basketball non stop with no break, and on top of this I was training and lifting heavy for my vert too.

Last couple months ive noticed a decrease in performance, had a hard time dunking blah blah etc.

long story short. i ran myself into the ground. the doctors said I have Chronic Overtraining Syndrome and that my CNS is completely over worked and shut down. For the last 3 weeks i am sore 24/7 its terrible. every second of the day i feel like i just got done doing a squat workout. im exhausted, cant sleep right, tight as an asian chick, and just sore in the worst way 24/7.

as a result, i am forced to miss my varsity season. The worry is that if i were to return to the season once i start feeling better, that my body still wouldnt be ready for the tiring practices every day plus games. and Im worried practicing every day/games every week is going to completely destroy me and ruin spring AAU for me, which is going to be huge in terms of getting exposure to colleges for me. So im pretty bummed, but I am a junior, so the coach told me i will still have my starting spot next season, and will still be eligible to be voted captain again too. this is going to give me a lot of time to focus on nothing but my training and individual skill work. i also need to learn to take some time off to rest every once in a while to. which is why im taking a complete week of after i finish each cycle. im commited to returning next season as an even better player. so for now im enjoying the holidays with my family, but once January 1st hits, im entering complete BEAST MODE headbang

1 season's time to get in some individual work sounds like da bomb!  headbang

imagine how much work u can get done in that. by the time that important aau league comes up, u'll definitely be a different player, faster, better, stronger, than the already good player u are now. sounds exciting.

how old are u dude?

excellent idea about the planned week off after each block, planning in advance like that really helps.. you could literally dig yourself into a whole for 4 weeks, but as long as you got that deload week, everything will work out pretty good.. it's when you dig for 8-12+ weeks where you just get into a point of no return.. being diagnosed clinically with chronic overtraining syndrome is actually pretty hardcore, they ran blood/endocrine tests etc to come to that conclusion right?

i have a "navy seal" training attitude also, if im not careful it can really bite me in the ass.. i never really take weeks off either but i do change things up when im feeling really run down.

anyway, sounds like you have some good time to make some insane gains, looking forward to it, and looking forward to seeing you take those deload weeks after busting your ass.. haha

peace!

Practiced hard every single day in the summer/ summer league games for varsity every tuesday and thursday
after summer league ended, started doing fall league, games every sunday

as SOON as fall league ended i did a fucking brutal "bootcamp" conditioning program every thursday night up in Boston with the aau team im going to be playing for this comming spring (by the way, it took my 6 years to finally get on a good AAU team. im going to get tons of exposure on this team. our first tournament is the LeBron James Showdown in Akron...)

damn sick!!!!!!!

I know man thats going to be crazy. ive never been in a tournament more than an hour away, now im playing in a lebron james tournament, things change so fast haha

But anyways, this boot camp conditioning thing was just brutal. 2 straight hours of non stop conditioning. never seen so many kids throw up in my life.

did you throw up? i've still yet to throw up, i wear it like a badge of honor, and i've been through some insane workouts hah.

hahah nope i didnt throw up once, i went into the bootcamp in pretty good shape, but trust me i got close hahaha

For the last 3 weeks i am sore 24/7 its terrible. every second of the day i feel like i just got done doing a squat workout. im exhausted, cant sleep right, tight as an asian chick, and just sore in the worst way 24/7.

wow what the fuck ??????

its terrible man. right now just typing this my legs are on fire. my legs being so sore has also cut off the blood flow in my body and my hands are freezing.

as a result, i am forced to miss my varsity season. So im pretty bummed, but I am a junior, so the coach told me i will still have my starting spot next season, and will still be eligible to be voted captain again too. this is going to give me a lot of time to focus on nothing but my training and individual skill work. i also need to learn to take some time off to rest every once in a while to. which is why im taking a complete week of after i finish each cycle. im commited to returning next season as an even better player. so for now im enjoying the holidays with my family, but once January 1st hits, im entering complete BEAST MODE headbang

excellent idea about the planned week off after each block, planning in advance like that really helps.. you could literally dig yourself into a whole for 4 weeks, but as long as you got that deload week, everything will work out pretty good.. it's when you dig for 8-12+ weeks where you just get into a point of no return.. being diagnosed clinically with chronic overtraining syndrome is actually pretty hardcore, they ran blood/endocrine tests etc to come to that conclusion right?

i have a "navy seal" training attitude also, if im not careful it can really bite me in the ass.. i never really take weeks off either but i do change things up when im feeling really run down.

anyway, sounds like you have some good time to make some insane gains, looking forward to it, and looking forward to seeing you take those deload weeks after busting your ass.. haha

peace!

i agree man the week off after each cycle is gunna be huge for me, and your exactly right. i ran myself into the ground for about 4 months straight with no rest at all, i pretty much dug a whole too deep for me to recover from. idk i just feel like if im not lifting, shooting, running, dribbling, doing plyos or something that im not working hard. unfortunetly ive had 2 learn the hard way that i need to rest sometimes. and yea man they ran a bunch of blood tests, they filled up like 6 of those capsules, they tested my blood for limes disease and mono and something called fifths disease too, actually got a little scary for a while. but ive been resting as much as i can, taking hot baths, light stretching, foam rolling and im getting a little better. looking forward to the 1st of january man, its gunna be great to see what kind of gains i can make while actually resting for once in my life
