Went to the gym with my little brother today. put him through a little workout, he did a good DB press workout. went like this Warmup 1 - 20x10 Warmup 2 - 30x5 Failure set - 40x4 Hes pretty strong for a 13 year old. im gunna train him to dunk this year too so ill have some videos showing his progress as well up when his season is over. Played a little 1 on 1 game with him, very low intensity, really need to be careful about tiring myself. Haven't shot in 2 weeks so was a little worried my shot was off but i shot great. We played to 21 and i was 10-13 on deep threes,so i was happy to see my shooting is still good. actually i think as a shooter its good to take a little break every once in a while, wish i knew this sooner. plus, as im finally getting recovered im getting some blood flow back to my hands. my legs being so sore and messed up cut off the blood flow to my hands and it made my hands freezing and was affecting my shooting pretty bad. gunna do this adarq style 12/19/2010 Soreness: quads, hamstrings, right calf, glutes, thighs Pain: right knee. jumpers knee still hasnt gone away, its fucking incredible. i didnt even jump and patellar tendon is in so much pain. i really dont get it. any help adarq? maybe i need to put a lot more effort into warming up properly. but i havent jumped in 2 weeks and it stills hurts, shit hurts when im driving sometimes its rediculous.

Man...I've never heard of anybody being overtrained that much... What symptoms did you have apart from just being sore and tired?

Goin to take a hot bath right now then completely stretch out every single muscle in my body until it is no longer tight. my piriformis muscles are ridiculously tight i really need to work on that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWfnAUsYUTIwhen i do the stretch that joe defranco does at 1:58 in that video its the tightest muscle on my body without a doubt, i wonder if that has any connection with my jumpers knee

That does sound tough...a break from the game might not hurt all that much. I remember I got cut from my highschool basketball team in my last year of highschool. The year before that I was the 6th man on the same team that went to the All-Ireland quarter finals. Needless to say it fucking hurt bad...I didn't get to play all that much that year except pick up ball to stay sharp. I worked on my conditioning though and I walked straight onto a pretty decent college team in Ireland the next year. Taking sometime off isn't the end of the world! Your situation is a bit different because you're injured/over trained and it's not that long. I'd say to just take it day by ..you're young and hopefully you might recover faster than 5-6 weeks. You got good skills though and you seem to be reasonably athletic. I could definitely see you getting a D2 scholarship if you know how to play the game (i'm not taking a shot at you whatever but obviously I haven't seen in game footage of you so I can't judge!). You got good skills and a decent base athleticism though for sure. Keep making the right decision and theres no reason you couldn't get a D2 scholarship. My only other advise to you is become a real student of the game - it's important to be athletic and be able to dunk and all that good stuff but look at PGs in the Euroleague, NBA and NCAA and study their games. Watch just the PG the whole game and make notes. You have good athleticism and can have better athleticism but college coaches probably aren't going to be looking at you to be the athletic beast they run their offense through. I know dudes who are playing in semipro-leagues over here and making decent money too. Some of these dudes are +200lb animals who can dunk through the legs and are way more athletic than I am currently. I weigh 50lbs lighter, can't jump as high but I can still d them up and make them look silly on offense. Knowing the game goes an awful long way and you have a great chance to take advantage of that with your time off.

Legs feeling much better towards the end of the day today. my dad did some myofacsial (probly spelt that wrong) on my legs with his elbows, tried to get rid of every single muscle knot we could find. shit was extremely painful ESPECIALLY near the quads, the blood flowing back into my hands was incredible. darq any thoughts on this: i was foam rolling down my quads slowly just trying to get deep into the muscle, and i would start at the top of my quads and move down towards my knee. as i started rolling down i could feel these cracks all around my knee. it didnt hurt it actually felt great, it was almost like my knee was popping back into proper position. idk it was weird. any thoughts? gotta get some sleep, got court in the morning ??? fml. justice will be served then gotta rest up during the day, get a lot of stretching in, and finish my christmas shopping at night. cant believe christmas is in 5 days, i realize im 18 but i get excited beyond belief. i sat by my christmas tree eating cookies and milk tonight wearing a santa hat reading my michael jordan book. growing up is overrated

[/b] truth glad the knee is feeling better, sounds like you definitely had some trigger points going on, that he worked out.. hopefully he doesn't start charging you. ya man and you have to consider 'rest' a form of training.. i never 'completely rest', instead i do walking, very light sprints, .. just recovery stuff like that.. when you need rest, you can still train, but it has to be very low intensity and recovery focused, it's still training though and should help with that "dammit i need to work my ass off today" mentality.. if i don't "train" i can't sleep, which is odd, but my body is so used to exerting some form of energy for an hour or more each day so, just simple recovery walk/recovery interval sprints (light) works wonders. pc

CYCLE 1
WEEK 1/WORKOUT A
Warm up:
- high knees half court & back - butt kicks half court & back - lunge walking half court & back - skipping half court & back - short spring to half court & back x3 - leg swings side to side x5 - leg swings frontx5
(Plyos)Couldn't do plyos, they kicked me out of the basketball court for an aerobics class wtf (Strength)Squat: warmup sets - 135x10,215 x 5 work set - 245 for 3x5. felt pretty hard, havent squatted in a while. depth was good though, but i can tell i lost some strength. thats ok i will quickly get it back Barbell Calf Raises: 3x10 with 135lbs. did them on a 45lb plate. exploded to the top, held for a second or two, then back down slowly. felt good, calves were burning. GLH's: 3x8. these killed me, worked my hamstrings great. form was good, didnt it feel it much in lower back, all in the hamstrings Split Squats: 3x8 each leg. Did them goblet style. Look them up on youtube i actually prefer it this way rather than holding them by my side. Used a 50lb DB. these made my legs toast. last set for each leg was tough. but felt strong and explosive. All in all a good workout, will get the squat strength back soon, just pissed i didnt get to do plyos. oh well, looking forward to doing workout B wednesday, then workout C on christmas eve going to take hot baths, foam roll, get a lot of protein, and stretch a lot, especially my PIROFORMIS muscles until then. Soreness:hamstrings - dead from the GHR's. calves - pretty sore, feeling tight. hit them good Pain: right knee - cant get rid of this fucking jumpers knee back - sorta around the middle. just real tight, gotta stretch out my spine tonight.
