its been a long time since ive posted here.

i kept training but mostly i got lazy and didn't see the point of keeping a log... mistake

my old log is here http://www.adarq.org/forum/quitters-deserters/go-big-or-go-home/

with my background

I ended up over-achieving on some of my goals, underachieving on others.  I ended up coming into preason at an extraordinarily lean 165 at 5'11

i'm talking unbelievable.  Had to be <5% bf.

I had veins popping out on my abs, quads, it was intense.  my teammates were shocked

Most of my strength training was dropped during the summer because I focused on the fitness tests (b/c that's what the coaches cared about)--so i lifted maybe 1nce a week.  So i didn't test nearly as well on that stuff.

I benched 200 and cmjumped 33".  My running vj was very high tho probably because I am very reactive and weighed very little.  I also ran 3 miles in <18 min which was a pr and something i was very proud of because I am NOT a long distance runner.

Right now i am in the middle of my season and so I am always tired.  However I still lift although I try to keep the reps high to minimize cns stress.

Yesterday was as follows:

1.  Squat: 95, 135, 155, 165, 175, 185x8

2.  RDL (1min break) then 55lb kettlebell swings:

95x8, kbx12, 135x8, kbx12, 145x8, kbx12, 155x8, kbx15

Thats it.

was going to lift today but i had other stuff instead so... pushed back to tomorrow

welcome back mang Smiley you could always bump your old thread if you want, with this post, and i can move it back here... or you can keep the new journal, whatever you want.

sounds pretty good man, you came into the season lean, extremely reactive, and in great condition..

did you ever do anything much with that broad jump training? I personally wouldn't do so many broad jumps, too intense on the knees.. just curious.

nah my jump training/lifting for the summer was put on standby just because of the volume of soccer i was playing and the amount i was running.

I was probably doing about 4hrs of hard training plus fitness after each session.  Add that to being on my feet from 9-5 (working soccer camps) and my body couldn't handle anything else.

I'm actually lifting more now (inseason) because I have more time to train and to recover.  I'm not doing jumping at all just b/c of the amount of running/jumping we do in practice as is.  I figure I'll continue to lift highish reps through the end of our season, rest a couple weeks then do a power phase where i incorporate jumps and other plyometric exercises.

id actually keep the reps low and intense during season. leads to less soreness.

well i don't usually get sore after anything other than benching.  For that reason i try to keep all pressing movements below 5 reps.

today:

chest supported rows: worked up to 2 platesx8
lat pull downs: worked up to 130x10
beach stuff
bench:  worked up to 185x3:(

how long have you been resting following the season? pretty major to bust out 275 like that given previous squatting performance.

Ha rested a week.  Hadn't squatted since october 20 lol...

i guess i'm just better at 1 rep stuff.

For my bench its like that too... the most i can do 2 reps on is 175 but my max right now was 215... weird

felt good to lift again though now I gotta get after it
