accidently measured my vertical today....


basically what happened was i decided to see if my head could touch the ceiling in my house... it just scraped the top of my head... then i stood on a stool and my head just scraped the ceiling again... measured stool = vertical jump

therefore vertical jump only = 27.5inches

that is bare foot on tiles... pretty dissapointed thought it would be much higher by now

well.... my ceiling is 8' and i cant hit my head on it, but that's because my subconscious/cns keeps me from doing so.. ive hit my head on it before, but it takes me tons of tries.. if there was no ceiling i could hit my head on a 9' object etc.. so, perhaps your vert is 27, or, perhaps your body was shutting you down so you dont smash your head into the ceiling, like mine does..

it honestly takes TONS of effort for me to hit my head on my ceiling because there's so much inhibition going on, my body knows it's stupid to do so... cns is very powerful.

test your vert using touch - reach, you'll get your most accurate numbers there.

wow just had my best gym sesh for sure today...

5 min warmup on exercise bike


Full squats (this is the first time ive actually done full squats so i was pretty happy with how this session went...) doing bulk glute activation stuff in between sets

10 x 20kg
10 x 30kg
10 x 40kg
8 x 50kg
8 x 55kg

was feeling some nice burn after this...


Walking lunges...

3 x 12 x 17.5kg dumbbells... i think this is a pr for using dumbbells so much harder then a barbell

Calf raises

3 x 12 x 50kg

usual...

then did some ab work:

3 x 15 situps
3 x 10 yao exercise

then i had about a 10min break and did some half squats (about parralell)

5 x 20kg
5 x 30kg
5 x 40kg
5 x 50kg
5 x 60kg
2 x 5 x 70kg
3 x 5 x 72.5kg was absolutely burning so much after this one...

then did a quick final:

10 x 50 kg full squat... was lovely

cooldown was walking home / protein shake / shower / about to start stretching

my legs atm feel super light although i was struggling to get up some stairs Smiley

Another good gym sesh today

worked my way up to 2 x 90kg

wasnt too bad

Walking lunges...

another pretty good sesh today...

full squats (for the record i am going right down as in pretty much sitting on ankles... is that right?)

worked my way up to 5 x 5 x 55kg

damn hard on that final set

lunges

3 x 12 x 17.5kg

took my time and went real slow... felt very nice

calf raises

3 x 12 x 58kg

pogo jumps

reaction depth jump (depth jump where ya dont jump up after yall mean?)

post workout protein drink + contrast showers + about to do leg drains for 15min..


Firstly my legs felt real weird during weights today like they were rock solid... definitely didnt help...

yeh i know i should have done jumps first before the weights but the gym was absolutely packed and i saw that the squat rack was free as soon as i finished warming up so i had to go for it...


Trying to take this seriously now as my goal (to dunk at intercollege tournament) has been moved to august / september now so it is a very real possibility that i could even get an in game dunk by then if i work hard... so basically what could i do to improve / work it the most.... (whether that be schedule /routine etc.) atm prepared to go all out...


and secondly just wondering if ya reckon i should keep trying to build up my full squats or should i keep doing the heavier half squats...

Arms today... (first day back at actual gym)

pullups:
3 x 5

chinups (sorta it was "chinning up on a bars which were perpindicular to me...)
3 x 7

High pulls:
3 x 8 x 32.5

Military press (behind neck press with dumbbells)
3 x 8 x 12.5 kg dumbbells

so much harder then barbell....its silly

deltoid matrix (flexion, extension, abduction, adduction...)
3 x 8 x 5kg (dumbbells)

damn i struggled here...

bicep curls
3 x 8 x 12.5kg

wow so tired today...

played half court ball in the heat + humidity for 1.5hrs

then played touch footy for .5 hrs

then went for a 3km run or so...

now its time to study...

so wrecked

well i was on a bit of a break due to getting back into uni / college... but its alright ima back!

today:

1hr netball training (for my college just a one week tourny thing)

weights:

Full squats:
worked my way up to 60kg 5 x 5 (going to a bit past parallel (but this time it actually is parallel lol)

lunges:
3 x 12 x 17.5kg dumbbells
(did some bodyweight ones in between)

calf raises:
3 x 12 x 50kg

exercise bike:
3min warmup
10mins of 15 sec as fast as possible 45 sec slow
2.5min warmdown

...

weird thing today felt like i was almost about to get cramps midway through each movement...

anyways go 2 games of netball tomorrow + rugby training so i doubt i will do much else
