I guess it just means that C, even though is very old, and most of the common programming languages are based on it, still "wins". Or something along those lines.

ah ok makes sense now. I didn't even realize C won. I don't watch much poker/cards etc.

and ya C is a great language. to me though, it's most useful as a foundation for building 'safer' languages on top. Similar to how languages should be built on top of javascript, instead of actually writing javascript. Writing large applications in C is fine, but it carries a ton of risk. That risk basically built the security industry as we know it.

One language I definitely want to learn eventually is Rust. I foresee something like that "replacing C" in the not-so-distant future. It addresses many of the risks of programming in pure C/C++.
