Hey people, jsut wanted to bring up this topic about denaturation. I was wondering, let's say we take fried chicken for example, since the proteins are folded when cooked with high temperature(denaturation), when we eat this fried chickn, will the protein still work?
any of you here eat fried chicken(probably without the skin) as a source of protein and seems to work out?
cheers

oh and also, is it okay to make protein shake(jsut protein poweder with water) and consume it a few horus later?
-
Not sure about the fried chicken. Protein is good any time, but after a workout it's best to take within about half an hour. It has nothing to do with whether or not the protein is good, it's perfectly okay any time, but when you take it right after your body absorbs it better. Absorption is something most people don't take into account.

ah ic half an hour? kay man i'll do that thx for replin

....let alone the rate of absorption of protein.
whey doesnt even reach peak absorption until about an hour after you ingest it. Take your whey right before lifting, and if you finish in an hour, you'll get the most of it that way (especially if you take some simple sugars peri-workout).

That ^. Of course that really only works if you're doing a short intense workout. I hadn't even thought about that, but if you're doing longer sessions or doing some sort of sports training (track for me) it gets near impossible to eat or drink a shake before. You'll feel incredibly sick during, so it's just safer to take right after.
That does depend on what exactly you're doing of course. Simple sugars pre-workout will work 100% of the time.

I wouldn't drink a protein shake before going to the gym unless I want it to come up my throat while squatting or doing other heavy stuff. No, thanks.
