Title: Glutamine
Post by: seifullaah73 on October 17, 2011, 08:33:03 am
Will this be a good supplement to take before going to bed. Can someone give more info about this what it is, will you recommend it for someone who is doing sprinting. what's the amount i should take.

Is it necessary as much as whey protein powder and will be useful in hypertrophy or strength training?
thanks

non essential although possibly helpful with recovery

things to consider first

Overall diet with emphasis on protein content -- whey if needed although thats only if you dont get enough protein as is

fish oil omega 3

multi vitamin

creatine

pre workout caffeine or other stimulant if needed

Useless. Although it can help with your immune system but that's never been proven. Does nothing for recovery or protein synthesis (besides what any amino acid does). It's found in most meats anyway, so even if it did do anything, which it doesn't, you wouldn't need to supplement it.

glutamine effectiveness is debatable soo... compare that with caffeine/creatine for example, those are found to work very well for what they do.

i personally wouldnt purchase glutamine, i'd just use that money for more protein/food or multi/fish-flax oil etc.

Cod liver oil? Gross. Just get regular fish oil and flax seed oil. That and a multivitamin and you're golden. I've been taking creatine which is helpful and actually super cheap. Whey protein as well of course. You really don't need anything too fancy if your diet is in line though. A multivitamin and possibly some kind of omega-3 supplement (fish/flax oil) if you have a typical American diet would really be it if you had a good diet.
