They did, it's when air alert 2 and stuff like that came out so it just sent out a shockwave of people trying to jump higher.

Now with less traffic, a higher percentage of the members are knowledgable though. I still miss the old days lol.

This is the only active vert site i know of. actually, active or not, it's the only one i know of!

Maybe theres some facebook group somewhere about jumping higher? Not sure. I do find it really interesting how a lot of people used to care about jumping higher back in the day. There was like a wave that swept over bball players all over USA and lots of them were working on their hops.

Today, dunking is still cool obviously, but i dont know of people actively trying to increase their vert like before other than "just stretch and keep practicing your dunks bro"

hah cool. it's crazy how so many have disappeared. people move on, sure I get it. when they move on, the info/communication on those sites to disappear. that's a shame. but i guess it's a job for the wayback machine. dno.

i plan to keep this site up for a very long time. in fact, i'd like to figure out how to keep it online for thousands of years. dno that's going to be tricky. lol.

i feel forums have been dying steadily for years, in favor of social media. which is a shame (IMHO), because i don't think popular social media sites can capture conversation/dialog & the ability to "follow a thread" like you can on a forum. social media is all about frequent short lived posts with nearly no dialogue in the comments. sifting through old information is difficult & on some platforms nearly impossible. it's all about posts on that single day, then moving on. it's very "fast food" to me. i'm not a huge fan of social media. I like instagram just because it's a bit more positive & has less sharing than most social media platforms, people posting personal photos/experiences etc, but that's about it. i personally hate facebook & linkedin.

as for vert, i just see simple questions ("what do you do for your hops bro") with simple or no answers on ig/yt/etc.

on a forum, you don't need to ask that same question because there's usually lots of easy to find background material .. so people end up asking more specific questions.

yea it definitely feels very different now, maybe just the marketing has changed. but, it's weird you don't see "jumpstretch"/jumpsoles and such marketing like they used to.

dno.

this is pretty spot on. forums have actual discussions, and way less showing off. social media has a ton of showing off. now there's cringy posts even on linkedin which is supposed to be all about networking. corny rags to riches stories about hard work and whatever, when in reality people just want to show off what they've accomplished. just broadcasting their good sides.

have you noticed how the ENTIRE internet has changed?! There used to be so many different niche sites that were popular. Every website had its own look and feel. it was amazing stumbling across an interesting site or forum back in the day. now everything is conglomerated into google, facebook, linked in, the same MMM sites, youtube, and not much else. everything "funny" is on FB and youtube, when it used to be on ebaumsworld, newgrounds, funnyjunk, and other sites. and all sites seems to be following the same "optimal layouts" for browsing, or clicks, or whatever they are trying to achieve. site layouts are formulaic, in short.

the more i think about this, the stranger i find it. isn't the NBA much more popular now than 10 years ago? where did all the "jump higher" marketing go? dunks are getting crazier and crazier but something is just different these days

I think it's partially less popular due to all these kids having seemingly freak genentics.

Which I attribute to catching "prospects" earlier and utilizing more efficient training methods early on. Rate coding is real and these younger generations are reaping the rewards of science thoroughly!
