thanks for the help, but i got one from someone else. was in the computer lab and this girl in front of me finished it up and left it saved on her desktop.

she got up and left and i swooped in and copy/pasted it to my friend on facebook so now we both have it.

of course i'm going to change it around though. will re-structure paragraphs and not a single sentence will be identical to the original essay. i've never been caught in my life with copying essays.

You just swooped in and took her essay huh? That's funny, you also could have deleted hers and then used the original without changing but that would be really mean and she might have had it saved some where else.
Goal

windmill consistently/ touch top of the square consistently

weight= 193
height= 6'3 1/2
highest touch= top of the square, which is 11'4

so you got coddled rather than challenged in high school, and now you're lazy and justifying cheating to yourself. and congratulating yourself for both your laziness and lack of ethical standards. cool.

im not justifying it. i know its wrong. i just dont care because to me it doesn't feel "wrong enough" to make me stop. i also got very lucky on my SAT's. got a 1760 the first time. was not happy at all, but was too lazy to study. second time got a 2150 with no studying. somehow ive just had shit handed to me my entire academic career up until college.

I'm the same and... yeah. Who cares? You just go through shit and get it done, whatever the way it is. I'm not going to bust my ass to learn useless shit just because some random people decided that in order to finish my college I also have to learn this and that. I learn what I have interest in and for the rest, fuck off.

^^ i agree with this. the essay I copied was about st paul the apostle for my Intro to New Testament class. i was forced to take that class, and i dont care about it. I'm not even christian lol

as for cheating on classes that DO matter to me, i only cheat if i cant get my work done in time and my grade will suffer. after i cheat i learn the stuff on my own because i will need to know it for the future, ESPECIALLY for my major (computer science). I can either A) get a bad grade and then teach myself the stuff afterward, or B) get a good grade and teach myself the stuff afterward.

my academic integrity always worked both ways too, i would always let people copy my stuff, even if they never ever helped me with my work before lol. it made no difference to me

Same here. Always helped others too. Always was pretty much the best in class for stuff that actually mattered to me. Also went to educational Olympics here in my area for a handful of stuff when I was little. Then the fun of studying fell off for me, it wasn't challenging anymore, it was easy - I knew if I only put in time that was it. Athletics on the other hand didn't came, or come, easy, so it's a challenge.

I understand what Dreyth and Raptor are saying and I've done that before as well especially in high school, but there is something to be said about integrity and the self discipline it takes to give your best in something that you necessarily don't want to do or care for. I beleive that its this mind set that has the biggest carry over in the long run of life  and is something that the military stresses as well.

Joe Rogan had a good quote in a YouTube motivation video

"If you can't take the time and care to wash the dishes right, then how do you expect to run a Fortune 500 company or be the best at whatever it is that you do."
Goal

highest touch= top of the square, which is 11'4

"If you can't take the time and care to wash the dishes right, then how do you expect to run a Fortune 500 company or be the best at whatever it is that you do."

i disagree with this quote entirely. my father says this kind of stuff all the time to me. you simply do not have to give your 100% in every single little thing you do. You just don't.

you have to give it your all in things you CARE about (i bet you some people will SOMEHOW take my message to mean "give 0% care to things you don't care about)

My brother, for example, was one of the sloppiest, dirtiest people I ever knew. My father would scream at him 24/7 telling him he's a mess and will never find a job if he can't do something as simple as finishing a bowl of soup without spilling some on the table. all he ever cared about was producing music and DJing. for 9 years he taught himself how to produce and DJ and made exactly $0.00 from it all, and we were all poor for years. my father would tell him to give it up and get a real job to make money and help support us instead of doing this bullshit, but he just followed what he loved, the mess that he was. unemployed for 4 years straight after college as well.

Today he works for Atlantic Records and has co-produced tracks like Flo Rida - Whistle and Leona Lewis - Glassheart among others.

Yeah, go tell THAT GUY he doesn't deserve to work for Atlantic Records because he's sloppy and dirty and can't do simple tasks properly.

That's awesome to hear about your brother! That story is kind of inspiring in a way. I understand what you mean, but what I get from the quote is that it teaches self discipline, which I believe is one of the keys to being successful. I know it may be impossible to put 100% into everything but the willingness to try imo teaches self discipline. I agree with you that some people become successful without this applied, as with the case of your brother but the mentality of having successful principles really does help. Curtis Zimmerman(motivational speaker) has said passion and hardwork trumps talent every time and I agree, but also learning the self discipline through other various life skills will help hone in on someone's applied success.
Yeah, go tell THAT GUY he doesn't deserve to work for Atlantic Records because he's sloppy and dirty and can't do simple tasks properly.
I hope your speaking in generality here, as I don't know your brother and wouldn't tell anyone for that matter they don't deserve something bc of how they handle their own business. I'm simply relaying my opinion why I think it does have a correlation with people who are successful in what they do.

By the way, I have also cheated on an essay. Went to www.writemypapers.org I think had them write up a research analysis. And honestly I had to revise it like 4 times, would've been better to just to do it myself in which I should have in the first place.

i scored significantly better than you on the sat. not sure what that has to do with plagiarism.

i like pelham's quote from joe rogan. alwyn cosgrove -- who is also a plagiarist, incidentally, so fuck him -- wrote that when people ask him if he thinks they should take steroids, his response is to ask whether they floss. if you don't have the discipline to spend 60 seconds a day taking care of your teeth, then you don't have the discipline to make steroids worthwhile.

I bombed my SAT because i kept falling asleep.

I hadn't slept the previous night. I was too busy reading Solaris Internals and writing LKM's.

Just say no to plagiarism.

holy crap what score did you get on the SAT?

if you don't have the discipline to spend 60 seconds a day taking care of your teeth, then you don't have the discipline to make steroids worthwhile.

Arguments like this make me rage because my father applies them to things I do in my life:

brb if my desk is so sloppy and unorganized, how do i expect to get an office job..... like the one I have right now?
brb if my PC keeps freezing, how do i expect to get a degree in computer science...... when I have a 3.5 major GPA right now?
brb if i'm not disciplined enough to groom my body, how do i expect to...... transform my body like i've done?

the writing part was an SAT II when i took it (10 years ago -- yikes i feel old), but if you combine my score on that with my verbal and math i got 2320.

it's not really an argument. it's just an illustration. of course you can be an incredible bodybuilder and never take care of your teeth. the point is that achieving goals requires discipline and effort. you know that, it's obvious.

when i cheat it badly undermines my self-respect, so i try not to do it. it makes me feel like i haven't really achieved my goal, it cheapens both the work i did put in and the outcome of that work. plus it's unfair to others who are striving honestly for the same goal.

I agree, I also think that using the quote above is not saying that taken to the extremes you will be successful or vice versa. But there is a correlation with its effect. It will definitely help in the long run, and imo learning self discipline in other areas like not plagiarizing, doing the dishes right or keeping the room clean will definitely help bc imo everything is an investment of time and a learning experience and a lot of times these small adjustments to taking pride in sweeping the porch for example can amplify ones mindset for better achieving whatever they want to pursue.
Idk this is what I get out of the quote, a good mindset or principle to try and live by. This is also more realized as one gets older and more content I think.  Just a difference of opinion for me.

I guess cheating is kinda like PED's in sports when other's use it to get an advantage and get a higher score than you.

I had to do this lab on signal processing and had to make observations on what i saw, i knew what i saw just didn't know how to explain what effects have occurred. while i am doing this people are copying this guys work and put into their own words i decided to carry on try and explain to help me understand and learn better did my best and ended up failing while the people who copied passed, this when the thoughts come 'i should have copied', 'i will start copying if i get stuck'.

Like PED's in sports they cause you to fall behind if you don't cheat.
