There's this thing bugging me about athletes in general. Why a lot of professional athletes, almost everyone from the places i've been training at, considers training like a sort of a job or something. They all need their coach to tell them they only have one more sprint/jump/squat to do and they finish. Why for them after the "hard work" they can relax and entertain themselves (clubs, women, drinking, etc). I hate this kind of approach to training and sports as a whole. For me there's nothing that gives me more pleasure in the world than training. I'm sad when i finish my workout because i hate leaving the facility and going to the pc, so that's why i always wonder about these people and question their dedication...

yeah that's cause it IS their job. once it becomes your responsibility to your boss to train hard and be in the best shape possible so you can drill for hours or work out for hours, whether you've had a good day or a shitty day or whether you got enough sleep or not or whatever, i can imagine it stops being so fun. no doubt pro athletes still have a lot of fun, but a job is a job. sometimes it sucks, you don't want to do it and/or you need a break from it. and i bet there are some pro athletes who wake up every day and just can't wait to get training or playing just because they love it so much. same as with lots of jobs: some people simply cannot wait to wake up the next day and start saving lives in the ER and some people would rather read a book sometimes but being an ER doctor is their job. both people have to show up and do work, but one person only loves it sometimes, or never loves it at all.

long-winded way of saying: a job is a job.

save it for the motivational thread!  :pissed: :pissed:

motivation went out the window to go to the gym today and it's because of stupid weak-minded decisions on my part. don't need to get into too much detail but i'm pissed at myself about it. i'm okay about going to the gym and i work hard when when i'm there, but i need to be more consistent and committed on the day-to-day. life gets in the way and whatnot and i've got issues that some of the younger or less-attached people on here don't, but that's some bullllllshit as far as excuses go. i need to just sack the fuck up and get after it, and instead i'm not. today, anyway.

but today is yesterday's tomorrow, or whatever that cliche is. tonight i'll get in some more rollering and stretching but that is NOT what i planned and NOT all i should be doing today.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

sunday: long very easy run 80+ mins @ 5:40+ (14+ km)
monday: strength/cross training
tuesday: extensive tempo (7 km) OR fartlek (mostly easy pace with mix of strides, hills, long tempo) 45 mins (8+ km)
wednesday: easy run 60+ mins @ 5:20-5:30 (11+ km)
thursday: easy run 60+ mins @ 5:20-5:30 (11+ km), strength/cross-training
friday: rest
saturday: short tempo 6-8x500 @ sub-4:00 (7 km)

- RDL/hypers 2x10-12 or SLRDL 2x10-12/leg
- upper push myo-reps or sets to technical failure
- upper pull myo-reps or sets to technical failure
- leg raises, holds, pallof presses

Low vert today... for some reason I just think I'm wasting my time. I mean, I know I did a good volume of SO CALLED strength work yesterday, but really, how can a 80 kg bar feel so heavy? And how can I suck so much today after just two sets of 80x10?

I really really really need to boost my strength levels and not get injured.

I don't know. :uhhhfacepalm:

my legs felt really good all day, kind of bouncy/springy.. why is this emo you ask? because it reminds me somewhat of how my legs used to feel when i worked out. now a 1 mile run is enough to 'stim' me.. sad, lmfaomfaofmao

FUCK THAT SHIT

Where's my food?

Edit: downvote all you want (or upvote, I don't care). I'm upset with myself too. I should know better than to get attached to anyone by now. I deserve that.
