Just got an email saying that he passed away. This sucks.

"With sadness, I am writing to inform everyone of the passing of Dr Yuri Verkhoshansky on June 23. He was easily one of the fields greatest minds in history. His contributions are monumental and have heavily influenced all great coaches.

Personally, I have been honored to be his publisher and representative to the the english speaking world. I have enjoyed a great business relationship with Yuri and considered him and his family personal friends of mine. The scientific world has endured an enormous loss and has void that cannot be filled.

Rest in Peace, Yuri Verkhoskansky.  "

I'm pretty bummed, of all coaches and sport scientists I look up to, I look up to him the most. He has without a doubt been the most influential coach in my own training & my training of others.

I've posted some things on his forum that he's enjoyed, such as my experience with shock, iso extension stim, and "possibly the high frequency squat experiment". I was hoping to show him our success, as a forum, with utilizing his MSEM method, for those who have been incorporating it and setting personal bests like crazy. Most people liked to ask him questions, but I personally wanted to show him that his methods were very effective and much appreciated by us obsessed "internet-age" athletes, who have been inspired by his writings.

Just like Charlie Francis, he is one of the few leading elite coaches (and sport scientist) who spent alot of time on his forum helping those interested in his work, or even other works. I imagine he would have been even much more active had he not been re-publishing strength training and simply being as old as he was.

Sport Scientists will continue to search for the holy grail in terms of performance enhancement, but Professor Verkhoshansky's teachings will remain most effective for eternity.

RIP.

Just skimmed through some threads on the Verkhoshansky forum and found this thread: http://www.verkhoshansky.com/Forum/tabid/84/forumid/15/threadid/650/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Dear Andrew Darqui,
my sincere congratulations, I can consider you my colleague.  You invented a new variant of Stimulation Method!
I suggest you to continue in your data recording concerning the increasing of vertical jump after tonic exercises so it will be possible to have the statistic parameters.
If you wish, I will publish your data in the site.

With my best wishes for your work,
Yuri Verkhoshansky
