Its dependant on his strength levels.

With the weighted vest, I definitely have appreciation for him.

Yes, but then he could loose the vest and go deeper. Like upping the weight on the bar and do less ROM.

Meaning exactly that. You can only go as far as YOU (each individual) can go, depending on how strong you are. To get further away you need to get stronger, and that happens in time. Think about the distance traveled on the ab wheel as a weight in the squat.
