Title: chin ups with 75lbs attached
Post by: Dreyth on April 09, 2013, 10:42:39 pm
hit an all time PR today

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj2PC1BNgno

might go for +80lbs next week depending on how i feel. perhaps i'll do +75lbs again and try to get all the reps to have as much ROM as the first rep. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get to +100lbs by august or so. i've been increasing at a steady pace.

and even tho i can do this, i STILL cant do 3x10 bodyweight chin ups with 90sec rests. goddaam, high rep chinups just DO NOT work with my body!

34 kg... hm... I think I can do about 3 at that weight, maybe 4.

But what you said about the high rep range applies here as well.

not bad..  :headbang:

careful with the chins. i did them for back thickness and i ended up with more biceps than lats. stopped at BW+90 x5, BWx20 routine. i prefer rows - thicken back without making your biceps too big.

I don't know how both of you suck with high rep BWs. while i was vacationing a few months ago, i did BWx20s 4-6sets every day. killed my abs more than anything.

i can probably do 20 reps with bodyweight non stop, but after that, im finished

considering i can do +75lbsx5 and BWx20 i'm surprised i still havent done 3x10 with 90sec rests.

and I do pendlay rows just as much as i do chin ups. in addition i do them with an overhand grip so it takes the biceps out of the movement just a bit.

I think the reason I can do only one very intense set and then I'm done is because I'm used to do very "efficient" reps. By that I mean "CNS-driven" and not "muscle-driven" reps. Basically, low TUT and high speed in order to finish the rep as quick as possible and with as little muscle breakdown as possible. That's how I'm wired in general.

Once I get to actually tire my weak muscles, no matter how hard the CNS tries, I won't get another high rep set. I will be able to do low rep sets where the CNS is king, but moving into the muscle realm of higher rep ranges... good luck with that one!

On first read I thought you were only talking about a single rep and was like meh but after watching the video and seeing that you repped it.. not bad! Has it grown your biceps some?

lets be honest here... what's the fkn point of doing a chin up with 75 lb strapped?  it does not good for the vertical jump... just gives u bigger biceps so u look like a fucki faggit.

This website isn't just for vertical jump...

Anyway nice work on the chinups.

Why isnt this guy banned yet?

Btw for the first time today i hit 3x10 bodyweight chins with 90sc rests! Now i can attempt them with 5lbs attached and slowly work my way up

i don't think adarq has banned anyone yet for trolling. nor should he, trolls are harmless most of the time. hyperdunk is worth an eye roll or a laugh from time to time, although now that he's getting more obvious he's not as funny.

a while back (two years?) i asked adarq for an ignore function but he said no, guess downvoting into oblivion will have to suffice.

Nice work!! That's some good form right there... Is your strength the same on pull-ups (palms facing away from you)?
