ever wondered what some of these pro dunker's verticals were? now you know :)
The last 2 got a 41.7 inch standing vertical - didn't expect that!

Also not that much of a difference between their standing and running like some other dunkers
41.7 vs 43.5 inches for Hamiliton :o
41.7 vs 44.5 for Currie
38.8 vs 40.5 for Staples

Unless the pad is really inflating their standing verticals....hmmmm
Although the running is on turf, but even then still not major difference, even if you add 2-3 inches

PJF's house is crazy... um he's rich...

For comparison Isiah Rivera touched 11'7" in this vid on concrete,  8'1" reach = 42 inch, but not max effort
He tested a 33 inch standing vertical in another earlier vid - second one

looks like they naturally learned to get a bit of that "knee bend" on the landings of the jump mat.

but the SVJ's did look legit high once they really started ME'n it.

RVJ's looked really good too.

curry is a relaxed reactive beanpole, love his jumps.

other dude got some power.

staples looking a bit mushy but he got that reach + dunk skill ;f

Anyone surprised by Rivera's 33" standing vert? Is he underselling himself cause I thought he'd be higher than that.

As a side note on verts I was watching this on the weekend. Check out the 11min mark where they test themselves on a jump mat. Both 35" plus. Kind of surprising even though Matt is a former national triple jumper so definitely has the right capabiliites. And yeah I know, both on gear but whatever.

He's had a 36 in another video. probably fatigued as he is doing heavy squats right now to reach 40.
Still I don't think you can get more than 12 inch difference between standing and running :)
And I believe jumps in the upper 40s off running

I'd suspect Austin's is a bit higher. Probably gives us the LEGIT AF 33", which is like 37" for people who fluff their jumps. That dude doesn't seem to fudge the numbers afaik.

i had a big gap: svj was ~30" with RVJ near 40". i'd say i definitely had a legit 10" gap. not 12, but pretty close.

my SVJ rom was like 5" though.. one of those crazy small dips. "proper" svj form, probably higher. but when you hate something.. ;f

i think eddie had > 12"... i don't recall him even hitting 10' off vert, but he touched 11'4 or 11'6? i forget. beast L-SLRVJ tho.

pc!

That guy has a pretty big squat as well, and fairly lean, so potential is there

I think there are multiple factors involved here that all add up incrementally.

One- the mat test can be "cheated" landing slightly bent kneed as noted here already. Say it only adds 1" to their SVJ...

Two- jumping off turf is tougher in my experience. So say their RVJ is an inch low.

That's a 2" swing just at a glance. So know you're closer to a 6" variation between RVJ and SVJ. More "acceptable".

I've also noticed that, while both are obviously helped by repetitions, the SVJ is more strength dependant whereas a RVJ has a myriad of factors. Strength, speed, form/technique. It seems more genetically predispositioned. Especially since I'm seeing guys who have massive RVJ start strength training and while their SVJ skyrockets they only add a few inches to their RVJ (talking elite jumpers here). Just my observations and experience but it seems like they're closer to their genetic limit on RVJ than they were in SVJ because that's what they did a lot of.
