snap general election announced for the UK this morning

Curious to see if she in fact gets her mandate, or if it really mobilizes the opposition... regardless, let's get ready for "meddling" apparently, though it's a much quicker process in the UK than in the US... shit, 2018 midterm elections & 2020 general election talk is already happening here in the US.

edit: I wonder if some in May's conservative party have been planning for months, definitely gives them an edge.

i think she most certainly will - the opposition 'labour' party are in a complete mess, nobody really knows there policies, particulary in regards to brexit when the party itself is massively divided. they want to good things but have no idea how.

well, after a couple of days of anxious/eager anticipation and rampant speculation that he'd have to step down, the supreme court of pakistan issued the most anticlimactic judgement possible: a 3-2 decision that there should be more investigation. (he and his family have already been under investigation for corruption for ages after the panama papers leak, which implicated his kids but not him directly.) probably a positive thing for pakistan's democracy that he wasn't ousted, but booooooooooooooring. the dissenting judges said that he should be disqualified from office but they lost.

https://www.dawn.com/news/1327961/panamagate-verdict-pml-n-declares-victory-supreme-court-orders-jit-probe-of-sharif-family

there might be riots tomorrow which would force the office to close. the family are guilty as all motherfucking get-out and everyone knows it, so the supporters of the other parties may choose to express their displeasure in the streets. doing my snow-day dance (and my hope-no-one-gets-hurt dance).
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

UK General election results in a hung parliament. Conservative were expected to win but as the campaign went on her popularity went down but still managed to get the most seats but did not get majority seats but actually lost seats to labour, which picked up votes.

But theresa may quick on her feet decided to form a minority government with the DUP party just to avoid corbyn finding ways to join forces with other parties to get in power. You need 326 seats so with conservatives only managed to get 318, DUP got 10 seats resulting in 328 seats total, but can only form a minority government because it's not a coalition of joined forces but rather the support of DUP to get conservative in power, this will help in parliament when it comes to passing law that they would need majority seats to pass a law and with DUP backing it shouldn't be a problem if others parties were against it.

but labour party can be happy that they managed to gain more seats and voters. Labour won't be able to meet the majority seats unless they got support of all the parties including dup lol.

I'm suprised theresa may is still continuing to lead the conservative part and be prime minister even after the bad result of losing seats and losing popularity.

oh well let's see how these 2 parties work together.

nick clegg obviously lost seats to labour because of his failed promise in 2010 to ban tuition fees but rather raised it from £3000 to £9000.

2016+ is all about upsets. May felt too comfortable. That's all I know.

i.e (trump being removed from office due obstruction of justice, as well as other stuff, collapse of conservative government (I doubt this one but who knows))

the only major outlet i saw covering the UK elections yesterday front and center was fox news. better that than comey calling trump a liar and the republicans' best defense being, he was just incompetent, or the senate trying to get the AHCA through.

It seems that the no.10 (white house equivalent in the UK) issued the wrong statement that conservative and the DUP had come to an agreement, when in reality they were still negotiating the terms. This is bad because it shows theresa may's plan before it has been written in stone and the UK will not like this because of the DUP's policy of being against gay marriage and against abortion. So it's only time before may has to resign.

In another poll, they found that labour was ahead of the conservatives by 6 percent, showing their preference to labour over conservatives

With US politicians targeted, including Rand Paul himself, this tweet is fairly amazing:

some video of the (politically motivated) shooting today:

http://nypost.com/2017/06/14/the-moment-the-gop-shooter-opened-fire/

went on for a while.. crazy. those politicians were incredibly lucky that a protective detail was there, otherwise they were just sitting ducks.

For the Americans: Just talked to a staffer at Van Hollen's DC office. He gave me a list of 11 senators who the Democrats feel are swing votes on the AHCA. Here's the list, get on the damn phone:

Murkowski (AK) - (202)-224-6665
Sullivan (AK) - (202)-224-3004
Flake (AZ) - 202-224-4521
Gardner (CO) - (202) 224-5941
Ernst (IA) - (202) 224-3254
Grassley (IA) - (202) 224-3744
Heller (NV) - 202-224-6244
Portman (OH) - 202-224-3353
Alexander (TN) - (202) 224-4944
Corker (TN) - 202-224-3344
Capito (WV) - 202-224-6472

Lookin' at you, Chris, both your dudes are on the fence. This shouldn't really be a partisan issue, a small group of rich white men want to steal money from millions of poor people in order to further enrich already rich people. If you're a constituent, the call matters more. But even if you're not, they hear the voices and if there a lot of them, they hear them loud and clear.

Took me 14 minutes to get through the list. Talked to people at Sullivan's, Gardner's, Ernst's, Corker's, and Capito's. Voicemail for everyone else except Jeff Flake, whose machine wasn't working. Better than nothing.
