Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: New year new me
« on: September 07, 2019, 01:12:55 am »
today:

fair amount of cycling prolly 1 hour mod intense in total

gym upper:
pull ups 3 x 10 felt strong
inc db bp 34kg x 8 30kg x 10
pullovers db 24kg 2 x 12
curls 22kg x 8 14kg x 12
tris pull downs 2 x 15

60mins hot yoga (intense today damn)

nice!!

i wonder if that feeling people get w/ hot yoga, is similar to what i get with 95-100+ F long slow runs. feel sooooo loose/good after.

I imagine so!! The room is set at 38c (I think around 100F). It's definitely a different kinda feeling to exercising in cool conditions.

100F, nice!

Today wanted to yoga again but no time

Run treadmill 30mins 11km/h

Squats 105kg x 5, 95kg x 10

Leg curl 45kg 1 x 15

Making progress with these bare minimum volume sessions. Had some insomnia last night so running on like 1 hour lol, always think back to the article on here 'no sleep, who cares - go get it' in these situations.

ya you'll be fine, unless it's chronic ;d

slight crank.

legs feeling good. injury area bugging, but strong.

dinner:
- wanted to use my blender again .. so made a smoothie. came out great: 2 x banana, 1 cup milk, some cinnamon, honey, and some almond butter.

stretching throughout the day
- mostly just short intense bent over toe touch stretches, but pulling my head to my knees etc, trying to stretch the fuck out of the injury area.

07:50 PM: walk/run: 1h50m ::: (road, variety of efforts)
- https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4028473385
- solid session
- felt injury area a bit, but it definitely improves when running .. which is good. because for months, it got worse when running. so possibly a good sign.
- after this session it was bugging me tho .. lacrosse balled it hard as absolute fuck.

- two decent mod/light mile's (6:16 / 6:55).
- best thing was 4:4X pace for 62s tho.
- also 5:22 for 2m:15s, more of a warmup tho.

12:15 AM: intense lacrosse ball
- seated on this counter top, to put max pressure on injured areas
- so painful .. pain went away eventually tho.. so, hit it good.

i missed this, you're moving to London? when did this happen - belgium was the plan last i read (or is london just en-route?)

i'll be down there quite a bit over the next few months as my gf is currently living there, lets park run!

nice!!! jealous of this park run meetup if it happens. there's some other potential members too. could be a decent sized squad hah. 8|

Shoes / New Balance Fuel Cell 5280
« on: September 05, 2019, 05:18:38 pm »
carbon fiber plate shoe, literally built for one mile.. :wowthatwasnutswtf:

that last part sold me, bought a pair. i hate my vaporfly 4%'s, not necessarily that they are so awkward, but they are also just so bulky. apparently these are very light/minimalist, and very fast. so i figured i'd get a pair for fun. fu*k it.

you can see in the very beginning, as she puts them on, they are not bulky at all:

yeah it was fun. hadn't done that in literally years.

ya i'm enjoying it as well. doing it every weekend now. gives me a nice distraction for a few hours (with yard work etc).

- tennis w/ dad x 45 mins
we were both starting to get the groove back a bit, had some really strong rallies. dad put some good zip on a few forehands and also mishit a bunch; overall big improvement over the past few times we've played.

nice!!

ok so uhh.. i found this recently. actually looks pretty solid. looks perfect for rings. also goes up to 100" or so, which is crazy high for a pullup system (pullups w/ no leg bend!)

^^ has some nice reviews on there.

i think this is the guy who invented it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbTNTIEDKNI

any thoughts?

looks stable even w/o putting "sandbags" on the base.. crazy stable with some sandbags on there.

i dno.. kind of leaning towards getting it.

:ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

or maybe not. who knows. ;f

rest

09/03/2019

145

legs/glutes/hips feeling better.

07:30 PM: pool / pool stretch
- major adductors (deep split stretch)
- right one is crazy tight, has been since before my sacrum/glute/ham got jacked up, but even more so afterwards. it's part of the problem for sure.
- loosening it up lately has been helping it seems.

09:30 PM: 1.5 hour lacrosse ball
- dug in really hard to right piriformis/glute
