haha, i probably meant my 1 footed approach, that isnt improving.

i think my 2 footed approach is still slowly goin up.

yea, ur right abt stickin with something for abit, tot i'd get some input on what im doing.
hmm, perhaps i'd drop the single depth jumps then.

thanks for the input, and the fast reply!! anythin else u'd think is impt?

well i think you're doing some good stuff but, would be much better to see a log with like a month's worth of workouts.. i think the bounds for 50m etc could be tiring you out a bit, but, i assume you're just getting good at the movement..

for intense bounds they should be, say just one leg, i wouldn't really go over 5 contacts in a set... you want those 4-5 contacts to be very intense.. a bunch of submax contacts is good just for learning the movement/building up towards more intense bounds.

in your blog i dont see low box barbell stepups or anything.. that would probably help your single leg.

anyway i'd just do something strict for 2-4 weeks and have all the data/how you're jumping when you do etc.. so it's easy to see everything.. cant tell much from what you got up there yet..

peace mang

damn... my 2 footed vert is coming along slowly now, can get 1-2 knuckles over pretty constantly now.
my 1 footed approach, however, is another story. still also abt 1-3 knuckles.

on nov 23 it said your vert is improving still?

been changing up my training abit now, lunges, rea squats, single leg depth jumps. still no improvement seen. :(
any idea why adarq, or anyone else?

well you have to stick with something for a bit... it's hard to tell what's wrong etc, you have like 3 posts on your blog ..

got up a simple blog, cowed77-log@blogspot.com, to keep track...

btw adarq, how does one do a single leg depth jump? for me, i drop off, land with my target training foot on the floor, the other leg swings, and nv touches the floor, and then i jump. is this the correct way?

what else should i be doing for my training?

i dont like doing single leg DJ's, i prefer the bounding exercises.. but ya it sounds like you're doing them right.

no heartburn this time?  ;D

nah, my erector spinae is getting worked quite a bit though.. im heavily detrained, thats why.

tonight i did tons of pushups and 4 sets of 3 on ghr, but i made sure to try as hard as possible on each rep.. hit probably my best reps on there.. im just doing eccentrics, i want to be able to go all the way down controlled

im watching this indian terrorist documentary, "terror in mumbai", fuckin insane..

it's crazy to listen to the conversations between the terorirsts and their group members over the phone.. they were talking to the 'leaders' who were nowhere near the incident, leaders were just feeding them instructions.. the indian intelligence service had their cell phones tapped.

sounds stupid, but how does one land midfoot  ???  ???

damn sorry i missed your last question, im about to sleep so ill answer tomorrow..

mid-foot just means you dont land on your tippy toes, and you dont land on your foot flat(heel touching).. you land toes up, but on your forefoot... figure it as how your foot would be if jumproping real fast.

ps: ghr's gave me massive heartburn

crazy shit

WTF? You sure it wasn't something you ate? I got mad heartburn the other day and couldn't figure out what it was from but it had to be food. Maybe you were doing the GHRs so fast the centripetal force got hold of your stomach acid LOL.

hah

ya im sure it was the ghr's.. i was fine hours before them and right after my second set it kicked it.. probably just some erector spinae muscle fatiguing, causing some weird referred pain.

i was doing the ghr's slow and weak tho ;)

yay, excited. finally gonna be doin somethin other then squatting today haha.

hey, adarq, could u tell me abit more abit depth drops, or depth jumps?
form, where to bend or something?

cos i noticed when u do ur depth drop, u jump off something, tuck ur legs, then land on the balls of ur feet.
and depth jumps, ur supposed to land, minimise contact time with the ground, and jump back up? but is one supposed to bend at the knees or somethin? or is it somethin stiff legged?
i mean, yeah, stuff like that, which i think might matter...

for a depth drop, you want to land in a somewhat deeper position than you would in a depth jump.. this will overload the hamstrings/glutes/quads more.. so slightly above parallel if that feels comfortable.

for a depth jump, you shouldnt really be thinking about anything other than looking forward during landing, and jumping 'as high as possible'.. dont try and minimize ground contact time.. just jump as high as possible.. timing the arm swing is important too, but im sure you'll be able to do that.. basically, when you land, your arms should be already in the process of swinging back, so now when you land you swing them up and jump as high as possible.

if you can, do the depth jumps by trying to touch something overhead, like a hoop or something.

with drops and depth jumps, land mid foot..
