light run. legs still sore af.

went very light on the run. ended up mid 9's which is interesting given the effort/soreness.

curious to see if lunges jack me up. if not, i want to do them nightly. if so, that'd suck.

it'd be nice to:
- AM light run: 30-60 min
- PM threshold/strength: 15-30 min lunges

i'd love to test that out for a long time.

but, i need to make sure:
- not to lunge if i'm sore/achy
- run very light
- rest if i can't move

06/09/2019:
- hamstrings improved, but glutes/quads still wrecked.
- left hamstring origin a little weird towards the end of the night
- glutes have crazy painful spots all over them

11:00 AM: light: 29 min ::: (grass/dirt/rocks) /// wanted to do an hour but - lightning.
- 3.04 mi 9:36 /mi 29m 13s

05:45 PM: bw
- strong
- 3sec paused dead hang ng pullups: BW x 8
- full dips: BW x 8
- dead hang ng pullup holds while twisting side to side: BW x probably a minute (nice)

some light stretching on/off, nothing major. some manual deep tissue on my glutes/hamstring origins tho.

Ultrasound Findings:
There is a disruption of the deeper fibers of the Achilles tendon insertion with focal hypo echogenicity, hyperaemia at the distal tendon insertion extending over approximately 2cm in length. There is an increased echogenicity and hyperaemia also noted in the retrocalcaneal fat.
No fluid collection / haematoma are identified in the posterior calf.

Conclusion:
Disruption of the deeper fibers of plantaris tendon at the distal insertion with association inflammatory changes.

5 weeks later and my Achilles is still fucked. I've now been placed on a waiting list to see an Orthopedic Surgeon.

damn man that really sucks. how long do waiting lists like that usually take?

also: is there anything you can do to just promote overall healing/recovery, without directly stressing it? ie increasing blood flow via stationary bike etc.

The GP said about 2 years waiting time in the public system. If I go private it could be a few weeks.

daaamn. :/

Quote
Good suggestions with the promoting overall healing / recovering. I should start going to the gym and using the stationery bike. Also just lifestyle factors like not drinking as drinking thins the blood and inhibits recovery time.

yup. do it.

Enoch

he dropped a 14:18 5k (ties road PB) without doing much speed work (8 weeks post Boston).

pretty crazy.

Run for the Pies: 14:18 1st place
4:30,4:32,4:44. Heat got to me the last mile but felt pretty strong throughout. Really pumped to run so fast after some big weeks and very little specific work just 8 weeks post Boston. Tied my 5k road PR on a slow course, pretty much solo in the heat. Just getting started, this is gonna be a good year!

what always stands out to me w/ these elites, is the SPM. they hit 12.5-13 mph and such at < 190 SPM, it's insane.

that's the key to eliteness right there.

also, my friend who i took that photo with a few weeks ago, dropped 17:04 after being injured for months. he's been cross training with "roller skis". he didn't even expect to run hard or drop a good time. he's gone under 17 once I think so, that's a great time coming off injury:

5:17, 5:38, 5:51

That loss to saul canelo for some reason seems like he has lost a lot of fights and this was a comeback fight.

But his loss to canelo a robbery for one reason but doesn't make him bad. I don't know if switching trainers to banks will help him or not.

But that was a devastating knockout but he did get caught at times.

must suck to get robbed. potentially even twice robbed.

that has to leave a mark on you.

plus he's 37 now. still has that power tho.
