- right shin splint
- hamstrings very sore
- quads VERY sore
- glutes still sore
- back tight

- basketball dribbling mixed in with very light submax dunk attempts off dribble
- hit 1 hard dribble up dunk with a ~90% jump.. was kinda shocked.. i thought i'd be completely stale on my jumps today if i tried any..

tomorrow if my quads / shin splint feels ok, im going to do some big big self-lob dunks..

198's
  Meet 534sq, BP 341, DL 578
  Gym  545sq, BP 345  DL 585
I'm 51, and this was some time ago. I got out before the triple ply Etcetera stuff. Squat depth is questionable, and equipment changes are out of control. I'm in the process of Youtubing. I've got a kid with a 50" Box jump. Sophmore in HS. 514" 5 hop. I've got some other kids in the 465-485" range. Two kids at 30" vj. I've been working with them since January. I haven't used your article idea on the Hyper Iso then SLJ idea, but I'm going to use it sometime this summer. Great stuff.
What coaches have influenced your thinking? I met Charlie Francis in March of 2007 in Salt Lake, amongst others.

those were some nice stats.. ya i can't get into enjoying any of this crazy geared up powerlifting.. i love all the big raw lifts on youtube though.. and absolutely love olympic lifting (to watch).

nice man tell me how it goes when you experiment with iso extension stim..

coaches that have influenced me are:
- Prof. Verkhoshansky
- Kelly Baggett
- Brooks Kubik's book - dinosaur training
- the people @ wannagetfast
- Jay schroeder (even tho i think hes completely nuts most of the time)

ya... he has some good vids but most are such sloppy form.. like he doesnt look at all at the form.. on the split squat drops you can hear him saying "nice"

weird

The way he's landing when he does them, I don't think he should be doing them.  He's kind of wobbly when he's absorbing the impact.

kind of? very.. hehe

this kid is gonna get wrecked.. all that wobbling at the bottom is not good for his joints.. he's not landing stiff at all.

doing nothing today...

but damn are my glutes sore.. surprising how sore they are.. quads keep spazzing out..

hamstring tendon injury has been letting me know its there the last week or so.. and today i feel it slightly more than in the last week.. i really have to make sure it doesn't "razorblade" on me.. this is one annoying injury that seems like it will never go away.. i must have really torn that tendon bad.

hopefully today's resting, and my static stretching of my hamstrings/adductors keeps it in check.. thats what ive been doing since i re-injured it a few months ago.. it might pull it a bit, but, it keeps it from pulling to the point where it razorblade's on me.

ok, so i go to sleep at 3am... my dad comes running in and wakes me at 6am.. grandpa having chest pains.

- goto hospital, find out he's fine most likely, dad stays there i go home to get a few more hours sleep
- sleep 3 more hours
- get called, dad needs help, go to hospital
- dont eat anything for 3 hours, no water either
- feeling woozy
- finally down a big coffee drink w/ whey protein
- then get a bagel & some water
- right achilles/ankle hurting, annoying me
- legs feel like jello
- go home at 6, rest for 1 hour, go to dunk
- right calf cramping up during warmup
- getting angry
- dunk real good
- split squat ADA session after dunks
- left hamstring insertion bugging a bit

damn.

<quote>the reason im doing everything weighted, is I want alot more reflexive force production when I land in those positions.. and I can progressively overload (albeit small progressions) those positions and keep increasing my stiffness properly.. If i could reflexively gain more force output in any of those positions, my jumping should improve..</quote>

This is just what I've found (and from talking with Kelly): Using weights to increase the force of the ankle stiffness stuff seems to affect the joints moreso than increasing the acceleration of the movement.

Since F=MA, you can increase the force by increasing your mass, or your acceleration. External weights would be increased mass.

Increasing the height of the movement would be acceleration, and my preferential choice.

Obviously some of your exercise choices don't lend themselves to increasing force through that means, but in spots where you can, I would.

<END NERD SPEAK>

sup alex "the takeover" maroko..

well, i don't really see how it's affecting the "joints" more than actual stiffness.. i mean i feel it all muscular, and i reach fatigue (muscular) faster when using the weighted variations.

i mean, if i was going very intense on the weight, to the point where i was forcing my rebounds (not actually rebounding) then i could understand that..

i havnt been doing the weighted variations the passed few sessions though.. im going ALL bodyweight.. ill use KE from freefall to overload, not some dumb weights.. ;) so far i like it much better... so scratch what i said about doing weighted variations..

and single leg submax pogos with leg completely locked and glute squeezed is damn effective at hitting the PF's.
