i would add, set some kind of attainable yet challenging benchmark, IE my goal is to get the half court length(about 13 yards yards in my gym) in 4 bounds each leg

still impressive nonetheless

darq, how would you describe you squatting style?  Have you changed it up since you last trained for vert at all, besides not doing much full squatting anymore?

262
alex what do you mean about the CK style of squatting. Any videos or more in depth form information on it, ie width, depth, any westside "sit back", high bar low bar etc etc?

rhythmic because i am doing a more explosive strength exercise (depth jumps at rim) before it so i think id be better off hitting the more reactive version

hmm i think ill play it conservative and not do the max jumps till friday, although im gonna need a good ISO EXT STIM protocol from you andrew.

-omegawave  ;)

-sensitivity to light

-drowsiness throughout morning/day after a good nights sleep with no other explanation (ie sickness)

*key is not confusing over training with overreaching

Overreaching is much easily recovered from and not as serious and more at the muscular level i believe

any comments or opinion on the differences adarq or anyone else?

ESAV, good question

My guess would be unless you are somehow super prepared, the majority of team sport athletes would benefit the most from staying in level 4.  Think how many athletes can't activate the correct muscles in the squat, cant squat even 1.5x BW, cant sprint a 4.9 or jump 26 inches. Throw in the already draining practice and life schedule for most high school-college level athletes, and there is barely enough time to focus on basic weighted exercises (squats, GHR, etc) and explosive (low level plyos, jumps, bounds, sprints etc) and other key components of training for athletes (mobility/flexiblity, imbalances, general and specific endurance etc)

darq, have you ever done day before potentiation/stimulation (ie squat singles) + stimulation complexes(ISO stim for PRS) + caffeine   Im guessing thats freaking 4-10 inches on someones vertical...maybe thats one of JS secrets  ;)  , seriously would be interesting to try though.

Question about Iso stim like we have both done before, its obviously a great low back/glute activator, but wouldnt it work better if it was more CNS intensive exercises(90% squat or whatever) or if the ISO was coupled with a CNS exercise(such as depth jump) BEFORE attempting the PR??

darqui, you should perhaps invest in a heart rate monitor if your truly trying to improve your VO2 max etc...it would help you track data and see what gts you results too...not a must obviously but would be interesting from a scientific standpoint

i know alot of guys that do a TON of military style PT pushups and put on no muscle cross section.  Probably a combination of lack of external load and diet. Just adding that in

outta curiosity, as a left right planter, do you always approach the rim from the LEFT of the hoop...ive started to do it for some reason from slightly right of the hoop...IDK

whats a 10 3 touch for you equal in rvj?

maybe you should experiment with becoming a one leg running vertical jumper...would be interesting to see if you could get to 11 feet plus that way..plus i think it would be easier to dunk that way consistently..plus u could show raptor after all these years the RIGHT way to do it
